John was on a train that pulled up to 36th Street at the moment when a shooting broke out at the 36th St Brooklyn subway station.
“The train driver, he told everyone to get on the train. It was scary. I didn’t know what was happening. There was everyone packed on the train. And people were scared. We went to 25th Street and he was screaming for medical assistance. And no one knew what happened. Everyone just got off. It was scary, I didn't know what happened,” the teen tells Sputnik.

Police say the shooting happened on a Manhattan bound N train making express stops just before 8:30 a.m. local time, and that the suspect was seen mumbling to himself before donning the gas mask and removing a canister from a bag before the car began to fill with smoke. He then opened fire with a handgun, striking several people on the train and on the platform at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park.
Law enforcement officials said a gun was recovered at the scene, along with a bag of smoke canisters and fireworks.
