📹 US citizen Steven James Humberd, who has been living in Ukraine for 8 years, said that Ukrainian nationalists deliberately fired on civilians in order to use this excuse to denigrate the Russian army later.

He also noted that he understands the reason why President Putin started the military operation, saying that the Ukrainian Army isn’t controlled by Zelensky but from abroad.

🔫 “I can’t dictate this stuff”: Biden says that gun control is up to Congress

🗣 “I can do the things I’ve done and any executive action I can take, I’ll continue to take. But I can’t outlaw a weapon. I can’t change a background check. I can’t do that,” Biden said on Monday.

He likewise said he hasn’t spoken with Republicans so doesn’t know if they are willing to support passage of gun-safety laws. However, for his part, he said, “I’ve been pretty motivated all along.”

🏭 Coal ash workers dying as lawsuit over illnesses drags on

In 2013, the first of more than 200 workers who labored to clean up the nation’s worst coal ash spill filed a suit against the contractor, blaming Jacobs Engineering for illnesses they believe were caused by exposure to heavy metals and radioactive particles in the ash. Nearly a decade later, not a single case has made it through the court system. As the cases drag on, dozens who believed their work for the contractor made them sick have died.

The Tennessee Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on Wednesday in Jacob’s latest challenge to the workers’ lawsuits. The company wants a judge to dismiss most of the plaintiffs for failing to follow a procedure outlined in the Tennessee Silica Claims Priorities Act.
