▪️ Embattled police chief Pete Arredondo, accused of botching the response to a lone gunman assault on a public school which resulted in the fatal shooting of 19 schoolchildren and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas, has been fired.

▪️ Arrendondo received much of the blame for his officers’ 77-minute delay in tackling the teenage assailant and he is the first officer to have been dismissed.

▪️ Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District's board of trustees voted unanimously to fire Pete Arredondo. The decision generated cheering in the auditorium during the meeting; some in the audience jeered at him, shouting “Coward!”

▪️ At the same time, Arredondo’s lawyers, who were not at the meeting, called him “a courageous officer,” and condemned his firing as "an unconstitutional public lynching."

▪️ According to local police, at least 50 youngsters aged between 14 and 16 attacked a McDonald's fast-food outlet in the British city of Nottingham, stealing food and drinks. The raid was coordinated by attacking and threatening McDonald’s employees who were unable to confront the fierce teenagers.

▪️ So far, no one has been arrested.

▪️ Police also said that the teens attacked another fast-food outlet in the same city about an hour later, but managed to escape before authorities arrived.

⚡️ The Russian MoD's latest statements on the Ukraine crisis:

▪️ Russian Air Forces performed a high precision strike on a military airfield in the Poltava region. As a result, five Ukrainian combat airplanes were hit, one Ukrainian SU-27 aircraft as well as one Ukrainian SU -24 aircraft were destroyed. Two Ukrainian SU-27 aircraft and one Ukrainian SU-24 aircraft were critically hit. The Ukrainian Army lost up to 30 neo-Nazis.

▪️ Russian Air Forces performed a high-precision strike in the Nikolayev region, eliminating the command post of the Ukrainian military group “Kakhovka”. 64 Ukrainian servicemen and seven combat vehicles were eliminated.

▪️ More than 200 Ukrainian reservists and 10 combat vehicles were eliminated as a result of an Iskander missile strike on the Dnepropetrovsk region.

▪️ Russian Air Forces destroyed the workshops of a facility for the repair of armored weapons and multiple launch rocket systems, including foreign-produced systems, in the Khmelnitsky region, and hit the production workshops of the Iskra in Zaporozhye. The production buildings of the Migremont aircraft repair plant were also destroyed.

▪️ As a result of the counter- battery fight, two Ukrainian Grad rocket systems and three Ukrainian platoons of D-30 howitzers were suppressed.

▪️ Russian anti-aircraft weaponry destroyed five Ukrainian UAVs and intercepted HIMARS rockets.

👏 Teenager pilot Mack Rutherford, 17, has become the youngest individual to fly solo in a small aircraft around the globe.

🌍 Rutherford took off from Bulgaria's capital city Sofia in March 22 and travelled for five months in a swift ultralight Shark. With a high speed of 300 km/hour, he flew the plane across 52 nations, covering two oceans, five continents, and crossed the equator twice before landing in the Bulgarian capital on Wednesday.

👍 Hundreds of people including Rutherford's parents and sister Zara gathered at Sofia West Airport in Bulgaria on Wednesday to greet and congratulate him on achieving the feat.

✔️ The experience of combat use has shown that the helmet of the Russian-made infantry gear Ratnik (Warrior) is 30-40% more effective in terms of protection than its analogues from NATO countries, Russian state corporation Rostec told Sputnik.

▪️ The corporation added that developers of the Ratnik helmet faced the task of protecting a soldier from small striking objects, given that in practice, approximately 75% of head wound cases are caused by fragments weighing 1-1.5 grams.

▪️ According to Rostec, the Ratnik helmet not only tackles small-sized objects, but it is also capable of protecting a serviceman from larger fragments (a diameter of 25-30 millimeters) and even bullets.

Man sentenced to ten years prison for killing service dogs in the Mexican state of Querétaro.

A judge sentenced Benjamín “N” to ten years and six months in prison for using poisoned sausages to kill Athos and Tango, rescue and emotional support dogs that were part of the emergency bodies of the Mexican Red Cross. Balam, the puppy of border collie Athos, also suffered serious illness due to the poisoned food.

In addition, Benjamín “N” will have to pay 2.3 million pesos ($115,000) in damages and a fine of 115,000 pesos ($5,700).

The man reportedly disliked the dog’s presence on the street where he lived and had already clashed with their owner.

Lawyers viewed the judge’s decision as a sign that the loss of a pet is no longer considered losing an object in Mexico, but rather losing a living being that represents irreparable damage and loss to a family.
