Russia is categorically against forgetting Nazi crimes and pursues a policy to ensure that crimes like the Holocaust do not happen again, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"Russia is categorically against consigning to oblivion crimes of this kind that have no statute of limitations," he said.

Putin added that Russia is pursuing such a policy "so that nothing like this in the history of mankind will ever happen again."

🏆 The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Thursday invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the 2023 Asian Games, scheduled for the fall.

💬 "The OCA believes in the unifying power of sport and that all athletes, regardless of their nationality or the passport they hold, should be able to compete in sports competitions. The OCA has offered to give eligible Russian and Belarusian athletes the opportunity to take part in competitions in Asia, including the Asian Games," the OCA said in a statement.

The next Asian Games will be held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.

Paris Transport Workers to Strike Against Pension Reform on January 31

Trade unions of the Paris public transport operator RATP Group said on Thursday that they would take part in a nationwide strike and demonstration against raising the retirement age on January 31.

"We reaffirm our determination to create a broad protest movement with all the workers of the country. In this regard, we call on all company representatives to express their rejection of this pension counter-reform," the RATP trade unions including CGT, FO, UNSA, and CFE-CGC said in a statement.

Warsaw initiated proceedings in the Council of Europe for the adoption of a resolution on Germany's payment of reparations to Polish citizens affected by World War II, Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk said on Thursday.

According to Mularczyk, the draft resolution touches upon the implementation of the right to reparations for Polish citizens, as well as the "lack of access to a judicial path and fair trial on these issues."

German lawmaker Sevim Dagdelen has lashed out at Berlin over its move to provide Kiev with the country's Leopard 2 battle tanks.

The tripartite mechanism between Turkey, Sweden and Finland on NATO accession has been postponed as Ankara sees no point in continuing, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday.

"Under these circumstances, trilateral talks are pointless. What is the essence of the mechanism? To comply with the terms of the memorandum punctually. But the current situation is unlikely to create a healthy atmosphere necessary for negotiations. Sweden has not taken serious steps to fulfill the terms of the memorandum, citing various reasons, like changing laws, the constitution. Therefore, there is no point in the mechanism now," Cavusoglu said at a press conference with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, in Ankara.
