🇬🇧 Food price inflation in the United Kingdom has hit a record high of 17.5 percent, which could increase the average annual household grocery bills by £837 ($1,029), UK data analytics and consulting company Kantar said on Tuesday.

💬 "Grocery price inflation has climbed again to reach 17.5 percent over the four weeks to 19 March 2023, a record based on our latest market data. Households are now facing an £837 increase in their annual shopping bills if they don’t change their shopping behavior," the consulting company said.

📍 Home food sales as a whole rose 8.6 percent in 12 weeks since the beginning of the UK sales year, the statement read. Grocery store traffic also increased in March, with each household going to stores more than four times a week, which is the highest rate since the beginning of the pandemic except for the Christmas period, according to the statement.

🇬🇧🇺🇸 The US and Britain expended over 2,000 tons of depleted uranium (DU) in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, and Syria. Now, London plans to hand DU shells over to Ukraine. British and US officials insist the weapons are safe, but what does the evidence say?

Sputnik spoke to Dr. Chris Busby, a physical chemist who has worked for the UK government's uranium committee. He spoke about his research on cancer and child mortality in Iraq, which he conducted from 2005 to 2009.

🗣 "We analyzed the cancer data that we got over the last five years by comparing it with cancer rates in Egypt and in Jordan as a sort of background. And what we found that the levels of cancer were enormously high, for all cancers, the rates were extraordinarily high and even higher than in Hiroshima... ...And what we found was that the levels of cancer in Fallujah were higher than that. leukemia in children, and also lymphoma in children," said Dr. Chris Busby.

📹 Dr. Chris Busby explained in an interview with Sputnik why he is sure that the surge in cancer in Iraq is not a coincidence.

💬 "There's a method called ICP-MS, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, in which you can take a hair sample and you can dissolve it in acid, and then you can measure the atoms inside the hair sample and see what the concentration of all these different elements are... ...And what we found is that the uranium went up, when we went back in time. there was an increase in uranium round about the time just after Fallujah battle, which then reduced as time went on, obviously because it got excreted from the system. malformations, genetic damage, sex ratio and extraordinary high levels of cancer," says Dr. Chris Busby.

📹 Dr. Chris Busby explained how the Iraqi healthcare system attempted to handle the surge in cancer cases.

🗣 "Well, first of all, there's not much they can do. I visited various hospitals in Iraq and I talked to the doctors. And they said that they couldn't do anything for the cancer people because they didn't have access to drugs because of all the sanctions. But to be honest, there's not much you can do. I talked to a number of families while I was in the hospitals and looking at the poor children with leukemia lying there in bed. They were going to die, that's it. There's nothing you can do. And the contamination of the area is a public health nightmare, because the doctors can't do anything." Dr. Chris Busby said.

Why Does Belarus Support Russia?

📊 On March 27, UN Security Council members voted on a Russia-drafted resolution asking for a UN-led investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Only Russia, China, and Brazil voted in favor, while the rest abstained.

The Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, built to deliver gas under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, were rocked by explosions in September 2022. Nord Stream's operator, Nord Stream AG, said that the damage was unprecedented and that it was impossible to estimate how long the repairs might take.

Moscow considers the pipeline blasts to be an act of international terrorism.
