China's Cooperation With Russia on Nord Stream Draft Resolution at UN is Vital, Deputy Envoy Says

On Monday, the UN Security Council failed to adopt a Russia-drafted resolution asking for a UN-led investigation into the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines. China, Russia and Brazil voted in favor of the resolution and all the other members abstained.

"This draft resolution on Nord stream was presented jointly by Russia and China, which is also an important sign that China is sharing our concerns," Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy said. "China is sharing our demands for the investigation of this sabotage. I think we will continue like this."

China's Authorities Vow to Take Measures If Taiwan's Leader Meets With McCarthy

If Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen meets with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during her transit through the United States, it will seriously damage Chinese sovereignty and Beijing will take the firm measures to fight back, Zhu Fenglian, a spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of China's State Council, said on Wednesday.

Earlier in March, McCarthy told reporters that he would meet the Taiwanese leader when she is in the United States but Tsai's office provided no information on her itinerary in the US.

🛢 Washington is reluctant to review the price ceiling on Russian oil despite Estonia, Poland and Lithuania insisting on a lower cap, an American news outlet disclosed on Wednesday, citing EU diplomats.

Earlier in March, the media reported that Poland and Lithuania had suggested bringing down the price ceiling to $51.45 from $60 per barrel.

💬 "The US doesn't want to do it. Estonia, Poland and Lithuania are pushing too far, especially given the reluctance from the US. This is not going to happen," an unnamed EU diplomat was quoted as saying in the article.

❗️Russian MoD briefing on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine:

▪️ More than 35 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, two vehicles, as well as an MT-12 anti-tank gun were wiped out in the Kharkov Region and the Lugansk People's Republic. In addition, an ammunition depot was hit in the Kharkov Region.

▪️ In the LPR and DPR, as many as 100 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, three pickup trucks, and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer were destroyed.

▪️ In the Donetsk People's Republic, as many as 310 Ukrainian servicemen, two tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, an armored personnel carrier, nine armored fighting vehicles, four vehicles and two Msta-B howitzers were wiped out over the past 24-hour period.

▪️ In the Zaporozhye Region and the DPR, more than 50 Ukrainian servicemen, one tank, two armored combat vehicles, four vehicles and a D-20 howitzer were eliminated over the past 24-hour period.

▪️ In the Kherson Region, as many as 40 Ukrainian servicemen, three vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and a US-made M777 artillery system were eliminated.

▪️ The Russian army disabled 87 artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at firing positions, manpower and equipment in 118 districts.

▪️ The communication center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was destroyed in the DPR. In addition, four command posts belonging to Ukrainian military units in the Kharkov Region, the Donetsk People's Republic and the Kherson region were incapacitated.

▪️ Eight Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by Russia’s air defense.

🇷🇺🇮🇷 Tehran and Moscow agree that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has no alternatives and needs to be implemented as soon as possible, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

💬 "We talked about the situation around the JCPOA on the Iranian nuclear program. We have a common understanding that there is no alternative to this international agreement, which was written down in the unanimously adopted UN Security Council Resolution 2231. We are in favor of the early resumption of the full implementation of this resolution and oppose actions that prevent this," Lavrov said after his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.

▪️ The Russian minister added that the US needs to lift sanctions from Iran and return to its obligations under JCPOA.

UK to House Asylum Seekers at Two Former Airbases and on Barges
