Samir Ayoub, a Russian-Lebanese journalist, lost four of his family members - a younger sister and her granddaughters - during an Israeli drone strike on the village of Aitarun near the Lebanese-Israeli border. He revealed the details of this tragedy to Sputnik.
💬 "We left Aitarun for Beirut in two cars. I was driving in front. Suddenly, I heard a sound as if pyrotechnics had gone off. The car received a direct hit, and it burned to the ground. My sister was sitting in the passenger seat, she died on the spot. The girls, my niece's daughters, were burned alive in the back seat. Only my niece survived - she was driving."
According to him, the Israeli drone operators undoubtedly knew that only women and children were in the vehicles:
💬 "The Israelis reported they had eliminated three terrorists in the south of Lebanon. But what kind of terrorists? These were my sister, a pensioner, and her schoolgirl granddaughters," he concluded.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russia’s Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops force US to shrink global bioweapons footprint
The Russian military’s revelations about the extent of America’s military-biological activities in Ukraine and elsewhere have pushed the Pentagon to scale back its activities, RCBD Troops’ chief Igor Kirillov has revealed. Russia’s disclosures have made many countries stand up and take notice of US activities, even as Washington itself remains silent on the revelations.
Kirillov and other RCBD Troops officers have spent well over a year briefing the international community on the extent of US military biological programs in Ukraine, elsewhere in Eastern Europe and across the globe, and work with dangerous pathogens from typhoid fever and cholera to diseases specifically targeting certain ethnic groups. Some of these projects were revealed to be focused on using the natural environment and local flora and fauna to spread disease in the targeted nation or region.

🇬🇧 Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has made a surprise comeback to politics after current PM Rishi Sunak appointed him foreign secretary on Monday.
But what were the key foreign policy moments of his five years as head of government?
• Involving the UK in the 2011 bombing campaign against Libya in support of a coup that left Africa’s most prosperous nation an ungovernable haven for terrorists and people-traffickers
• Falsely accusing Iran of developing nuclear weapons and “intercontinental” missiles, then allowing an Iranian news channel to be banned in the UK
• Failing to win Parliamentary support for a bombing campaign against Syria on the pretext of combatting Daesh*, without asking permission of President Bashar al-Assad
• Campaigning to remain in the European Union in the 2016 referendum, only to lose and resign rather than implement the will of the people.

🇺🇸 US military bases have repeatedly come under fire in the Middle East, despite Washington's unprecedented military buildup in the region over the Gaza war
"The regional security architecture has changed in a way that the United States is having a considerably harder time achieving its goals," Mehran Kamrava, professor of government at Georgetown University Qatar, told Sputnik. "We have seen a greater degree of strategic autonomy being exercised by America's traditional allies, such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia."
While Jordanian Major General Mahmoud Erdesat argued, while speaking to Sputnik, that the US presence discourages Israel's adversaries from escalating skirmishes on the ground, Kamrava noted that Washington's influence has significantly waned with even Israel refusing to follow US recommendations.

🇫🇷 "In France, like several of the other NATO countries, and the US, the stockpiles are depleted," Earl Rasmussen, retired lieutenant colonel with over 20 years in the US Army and International Consultant, told Sputnik commenting on France’s decision not to transfer free-of-charge weapons to Ukraine. "They're dangerously low. They really cannot defend themselves."
Earlier, French Minister of Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu, announced that from now on, Kiev will have to buy French weapons using money from a special fund, allocated by Paris. Lecornu's announcement means that free weapons bonanza is over for Kiev.
The other side of the coin is that France and Europe in general have been exhausted by the Ukraine conflict with a new war in Gaza now being high on agenda, Rasmussen noted.

🇺🇸🇨🇳 US President Joe Biden is expected to meet Chairman Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) amid simmering tensions between the two global players.
"Beijing and Washington acknowledge that things are not going hunky-dory, but they do not want things to get any worse," Agathe Demarais, senior geoeconomics policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), told Sputnik.
Per Demarais, one should not expect any breakthroughs: the US is unlikely to backpedal on controls on the exports of advanced technology to China. Likewise, the People's Republic of China is likely to proceed with a dual-circulation model, boosting its self-sufficiency and developing ties with Russia.
