🇷🇺 Putin thinks global issues can be resolved only through cooperation, in contrast to Biden

There is a stark difference between the Russian president and his US counterpart when it comes to their approach to global governance, Dr. Marco Marsili, associate fellow at the Center for Strategic Research and Analysis, told Sputnik.

“President Putin acknowledged the role of the United States as a global power. He underlined that dialogue is fundamental to get a balance about the main issues. American imperialism is nothing new, it is just the attitude of the US to act as the only superpower. I do not see any changes in the foreign policy of the Biden administration and that's a pity, as President Putin is open to restoring relationships,” Marsili said.

Putin’s right, Orban and Fico branded ‘pro-Russian’ because they stick to their countries’ national interests – observer

“I completely agree with President Putin. I have been saying for a long time that when Orban’s opponents reproach him for being ‘pro-Russian,’ this is just a label, nothing more. Orban proceeds from Hungarian national interests. And I would add not just about Hungarian interests, but on some issues European interests. It’s a pity that Europeans and European politicians, especially the leaders of the European Union, do not proceed from European interests,” Gabor Stier, a senior foreign policy analyst at Magyar Nemzet, a leading Hungarian conservative daily newspaper, told Sputnik.

At his big year-end news conference on Thursday, Russia’s president singled out Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico as the only politicians in Europe who seek to pursue their national interests and don’t listen to their American “big brothers.”

‘Stark differences between Ukraine, Gaza are obvious,’ expert says

Putin is correct when pointing out the obvious difference between the situation in Ukraine and Gaza, Dr. Hesham Alghannam, a Saudi political scientist, told Sputnik.

“Western media talked about 10,000 civilian casualties in Ukraine in almost 22 months of fighting; in Gaza almost double this number happened within two months. Russia targeted energy infrastructure in Ukraine when the latter targeted the Crimea Bridge, but in Gaza, Israel targeted all kinds of infrastructure: roads, schools, hospitals, power plants, and water tanks. It obliterated civilian quarters completely,” said the director general of the Strategic Studies and National Security Programs at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.

As for the Israeli side considering the situation unsafe for opening a Russian hospital in Gaza, the pundit added: “Israel is the country that bombs Gaza. It [opening of a hospital] won't be safe if Israel plans to bomb it. Yet, I believe Israel does not want to see hospitals, schools, markets, or residential quarters in Gaza; otherwise, it would not have targeted the existing ones. Israel plans to force the Palestinians to leave Gaza, and that is why they do not want to see any facilities there that could support Palestinian living.”
