Hungary is ready to continue providing a platform for cooperation between Russia and Western countries in the field of nuclear energy, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto has said.

"I am overseeing the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Hungary, in which Rosatom plays a major role. But when I look around, I see - who is working there? Germans, Americans, French, Swiss, Swedes and even Austrian subcontractors. This means that in the field of nuclear energy at the corporate level, those people who make decisions have not yet lost their common sense. I hope that this will remain the case," he said at a plenary session at the ATOMEXPO Forum.

"We are pleased to provide a platform for Russians, Americans, Germans, French, and Swiss to cooperate in the field of nuclear energy. We are ready to continue this work," Szijjarto added.

US and Japan look to revamp military alliance amid growing push to encircle China

American President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are scheduled to meet in April on a plan to bring about the biggest potential change in Washington’s East Asia command structure in six decades, according to a Financial Times report.

The anticipated upgrades to their pact include establishing a joint command headquarters in Japan under a four-star US general, who might be given authority over Japanese troops, along with his Japanese counterpart in rank.

Kishida has reportedly pushed for such a unified command due to concerns that the US and Japanese militaries would struggle to rapidly coordinate decision-making in the event of a war. The US Indo-Pacific command is based in Hawaii, 19 hours behind Tokyo and 6,200 km away.

Japan presently hosts 54,000 US troops, hundreds of aircraft, and US’ only forward-deployed carrier strike group, enabling the latter to project substantial military power in the region.

In recent years, Japan has departed from post-war pacifism to militarise itself rapidly, including doubling its defense expenditure to 2% of GDP and procuring counterstrike missiles capable of hitting targets 600 miles away.

Although China is Japan’s top trading partner, Kishida has grown increasingly bellicose towards the superpower rival of its American ally. Japan’s most recent defense white paper, released in July 2023, described China as Tokyo’s “greatest strategic challenge."

Hungary defies pressure: Commitment to Russian nuclear cooperation remains firm

Despite facing pressure from international liberal elites and Brussels, Hungary remains steadfast in upholding its national interests, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjarto has said. He also reflected on Hungary's resilience since 2010, emphasizing its commitment to cooperation with the Russian nuclear industry, a partnership spanning five decades.

"We have never given up our national interests. Maybe this is the reason why we are still here and why our voters still do believe in us and they still give their support to us because we have never given up the national interest," he said answering the question from Sputnik correspondent.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining this cooperation with Russia, a cornerstone of Hungary's energy strategy.

As Hungary continues to navigate external pressures, Szijjarto's affirmation of the country's enduring partnership with the Russian nuclear industry underscores Hungary's commitment to its national interests and energy security.

Safe haven for terrorist groups? ISIS members quietly lived in Ukraine for over year

In a sign that Ukraine remains a refuge to ISIS* terrorists, the Independent reported back in 2019 that a high-ranking member of this terrorist group, Caesar Tokhosashvili, also known as al-Bara al-Shishani, lived with his wife and three children in the Ukrainian city of Belaya Tserkov for more than a year before being tracked and detained by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

▪️In August 2017, Tokhosashvili, who is of Georgian origin, was believed to have died and have lost his family in an airstrike in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor. However, it later turned out that his death was staged to divert attention from his relocating to Ukraine from Syria.

▪️Tokhosashvili arrived in Belaya Tserkov with a genuine passport, so the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was aware of his affiliation with ISIS.

▪️The SBU admitted that when in Ukraine, Tokhosashvili continued to recruit radicals into the ranks of the ISIS’ Security Service.

▪️The SBU carefully concealed the fact of the CIA detaining al-Shishani to prevent the spread of information about the SBU's role in providing ISIS terrorists with safe havens.

▪️Tokhosashvili is currently serving his sentence in Georgia on terrorism charges.

How Vladimir Putin called to form a global anti-ISIS coalition nearly a decade ago

In his speech at a UN General Assembly Session in 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the creation of an international anti-terrorist coalition to combat the threat posed by ISIS*, a terrorist organization also known as ISIL and the Islamic State (IS) that emerged in the wake of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Putin condemned any support for terrorists, stressing its short-sightedness and danger. He warned of the escalating global terrorist threat, fueled by fighters trained in groups like the Islamic State, including those from European countries.

Putin reaffirmed Russia's unwavering opposition to terrorism and its active support for nations like Iraq and Syria in their fight against terrorist groups. He called for cooperation based on common values, advocating for a broad international anti-terrorist coalition to combat evil and uphold humanity's values.

Western powers, despite styling themselves as stalwart opponents of terrorism, had de facto ignored Putin’s proposal. The United States, for example, opted instead to illegally occupy a large portion of Syria’s territory under the pretext of fighting ISIS separately from Russia.

EXCLUSIVE❗️The Ukraine - Jihadist connection: Who is Abdul-Hakim Shishani? (PART 1)

The Chechen radical Islamist field commander who fought alongside Al Qaeda* in Syria, is now a citizen of Ukraine and heads the Chechen detachment of the International Legion. He maintains ties with both Islamists in Syria and Chechen separatists based in the West, according to an exclusive Sputnik investigation.

◾️In October 2022, Rustam Azhiev, also known as Abdul-Hakim Shishani, came to Ukraine to “join” the fight against Russian troops. Shortly after his arrival, he was granted Ukrainian citizenship (see photos 1,2).

◾️During the second Chechen war, Shishani commanded the Central Front of the Ichkerian* separatist groups before moving to Turkey. In 2011, he led the "Ajnad Al-Caucasus"* terrorist group in Syria alongside other jihadists from the so-called "Caucasus Emirate"* (photo 3). In an interview with pro-Ichkeria media, he stated that his intention in Syria was to combat both Assad's forces and the Russian military presence.

◾️Shishani's group was involved in conflicts in various Syrian provinces, including Latakia, Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama. Collaborating with the terrorist group Jabhat Al-Nusra*, which has affiliations with ISIS* and Al Qaeda*, they captured Idlib and attempted to resist the Syrian army's efforts to liberate Aleppo. Since 2019, Shishani's "Ajnad Al-Caucasus"* jihadis have remained in Idlib as the situation in Syria stabilized.

* ISIS, Al Qaeda, Jabhat Al-Nusra, Ichkeria, Caucasus Emirate, Ajnad Al-Caucasus are terrorist organizations outlawed in Russia.
