The US delegation led by McCaul arrived in Taiwan on May 26 for a four-day visit. On Monday, the Americans were met by Taiwan's new chief executive, Lai Ching-te, who recently took office.

China believes Lai Ching-te is "seeking independence" for the island, pushing it to the brink of war.

The US will supply Taiwan with new weapons, not old ones like Ukraine, said Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), who is visiting the island.

McCaul also lashed out at China, which recently conducted maneuvers near the island, saying that these exercises show that China has no intention of acting peacefully.

Jens Stoltenberg has confirmed that he is in favor of lifting restrictions on the use of Western weapons against "legitimate targets" on the territory of Russia.

At the same time, the NATO Secretary General emphasized that the alliance is trying to avoid a direct clash with Russia over Ukraine and that this remains the main task.

🗣 NATO does not intend to deploy troops to Ukraine, the alliance's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said in an interview with the Economist.

“We provide training, we provide weapons, ammunition to Ukraine, but we will not be directly involved from NATO territory in combat operations over or in Ukraine.... We don't have any intention to send NATO ground troops into Ukraine because our purpose... has been two-fold, to support Ukraine as we do, but also to ensure that we don't escalate this into a full scale conflict,” The media quotes Stoltenberg as saying.

Ukraine conference in Switzerland will be 'propaganda exercise' to cover up Zelensky's illegitimacy - analyst

Russian President Vladimir Putin “is correct” when he says that the goal of the upcoming so-called Ukraine peace conference in Switzerland is to try to confirm the legitimacy of Volodymyr Zelensky to the Western community, Christopher C. Black, international criminal lawyer and political commentator, told Sputnik.

"It is a propaganda exercise to try to cover up the fact the Kiev regime is not legitimate. Of course legitimacy cannot be assured by statements by supporters of an illegitimate regime and those who arranged the coup d'etat of 2014," Black pointed out.

As for Zelensky, he "has never been a legitimate president of Ukraine," the political commentator argued. According to him, the last legitimate president of Ukraine is Viktor Yanukovych, "who was overthrown in the NATO-orchestrated coup of 2014" and "never served out his term."

"So that when the Kiev coup regime conducted subsequent elections they could not be considered free and fair by any standards in the world. They were all rigged to maintain the coup regime in power under different figures or puppets," the analyst said.

‘Israel must accept that it cannot exist without a Palestinian state’ – Saudi foreign minister

“Israel doesn’t get to decide whether or not the Palestinians have a right to self-determination. This is something that is enshrined in the UN’s charter and in international law... It is absolutely necessary that Israel accepts that it cannot exist without the existence of a Palestinian state,” Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud stated following the meeting with Arab and European counterparts in Belgium.

The top-diplomat also stressed that Israel should realize that it is in its interest to establish a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders “as everyone understands it is the right thing to do.”
