The Tor-M2 air defense system of the Zapad Battlegroup destroyed a Storm Shadow cruise missile on the Kupyansk section, the commander under the call sign ‘Pauk’ (lit. Spider) told reporters.
"Recently, we shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Portuguese Tekever type, a reconnaissance drone of the Furia and Leleka types, a Storm Shadow cruise missile, and a HIMARS with extended range," he said.
Pauk explained that the Storm Shadow flies along the usual trajectory of a cruise missile, making it a good target for Tor-M2. According to him, the missile was hit by the very first shot.
"The technical characteristics of the [Tor-M2] allow it. It has a 98% hit rate. Basically, the machine does everything, but the crew is also important," the commander noted.

How is Western media reporting on Biden's potential exit from US presidential race?
Several media outlets have reported that Joe Biden, considered the guaranteed nominee of the US Democratic Party until recently, is ready to withdraw from the US presidential race:
◻️ The avalanche of news on Biden’s possible decision to quit the race started when journalist and Newsmax commentator, Mark Halperin, said he had “multiple sources” informing him of Biden's plans to withdraw his candidacy. The president would announce it as early as this weekend, Halperin had stated.
◻️ Later, the Washington Post (WP) shed light on the “behind-the-scenes role" of Nancy Pelosi in persuading Biden "to exit race."
◻️ The Financial Times (FT) revealed that US elites have resorted to tougher means to persuade Biden. The newspaper reports that donors “threatened to halt funding for his [Biden’s] campaign” and “heaped” pressure on the Democratic Party’s “grandees”, including Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi. Due to the financial factor, "the pressure is insurmountable", an insider told the FT.
◻️ NBC reported that even Biden’s most defiant backers have abandoned him, quoting an unnamed “person close to Biden” as saying “we are close to the end.”

Several media outlets have reported that Joe Biden, considered the guaranteed nominee of the US Democratic Party until recently, is ready to withdraw from the US presidential race:
“A speech has been drafted for him,” Newsmax quoted Halperin as saying at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Halperin added that Biden would continue to serve as president until his term expires, and would not endorse Kamala Harris.
“The former House speaker [Nancy Pelosi] told some House Democrats that… Biden can be persuaded fairly soon to exit the presidential race, amid serious doubts he can win in November, according to three Democratic officials,” the newspaper wrote. It added that Pelosi’s “behind-the-scenes role” in removing Biden from the race involved representing “rank-and-file Democrats” by “relaying their messages to the White House.”

Shiny roofs for Ukrainians as locals sleep rough
While Berlin faces an acute housing shortage, there is always room for Ukrainian refugees. By the end of the month, seven newly built residential buildings in the Pankow district of Berlin, featuring 61 one-, two-, three-, four-, and five-room apartments, and covering an area of 7,170 square meters, will welcome 320 refugees. Each apartment is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom, and there are common areas and leisure amenities, such as table tennis tables.
Local residents are outraged:
◻️ “It's madness - this while pensioners have to rummage through trash for empty bottles just to make ends meet.”
◻️ “So beautiful! This is where I would like to move to.”
◻️ “Providing such prosperity to migrants is a disastrous signal to our own citizens who are being degraded to second-class citizens. Changing this policy should be the first duty of the new government.”
◻️ “Wonderful. They (the refugees) don’t need to work!”

☢️ US declassifies nuke numbers
The United States had 3,748 nuclear warheads in stock as of September 2023, according a new ‘fact sheet’ put out by the Department of Energy.
The tally includes both active (maintained in operational, ready-to-use configuration) and inactive (stocked at a depot with their tritium trigger components removed) warheads.
◻️ The US began to stockpile nukes in 1945 – when it became the first country to create a nuclear bomb, and the first and only nation to ever use it against another country, dropping nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan at the end of WWII. US nuke numbers rose exponentially between 1950 and 1967 – when they hit their historic maximum of 31,255 warheads.
◻️ The numbers began a gradual decline over the next two decades as the US developed increasingly advanced delivery systems and talked arms control with Moscow. By the end of the Cold War in 1989, the US had 22,217 warheads.
◻️ Arms control treaties with the USSR and Russia saw numbers drop dramatically through the first half of the 1990s to 10,904 in 1995, and again in the second half of the 2000s, falling falling below 4,000 in 2017 and remaining in the 3,700+ ballpark ever since.
◻️ Now, the DoE says about 2,000 retired warheads are awaiting dismantlement. 69 retired nukes were dismantled in 2023 – the smallest number recorded since 1994.
The US stopped publishing data on the size of the its arsenal in 2019, and stopped sharing this information with Russia in 2023, despite the requirement of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START).
The US has the second-largest nuclear arsenal in the world after Russia (1,710 warheads deployed, 2,670 in storage). China has 500 (24 deployed, 476 in storage), France 290 (280 deployed, 10 stored), and Britain 225 (120 deployed, 105 stored).

A brutal Israeli aggression against Yemen has targeted civilian facilities, oil tanks, and the electricity station in Hodeidah. This aims to double the people’s suffering and pressure Yemen to stop supporting Gaza—a goal that, God willing, will never be achieved. We affirm that this brutal aggression will only increase the determination, steadfastness, and resilience of the Yemeni people and their valiant armed forces. It will also bolster our continued and growing support for Gaza. The Yemeni people, thanks to God, are able to face all challenges, seeking divine help and striving for victory in the face of oppression against Palestine and the people of Gaza, which represents the most just cause on the face of the earth.
