Obama, Pelosi forced Biden to drop out of race, Trump says

It was Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi who coerced Biden into withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race last Sunday, former US President Donald Trump has told the New York Post.

 “[Ex-POTUS] Obama can’t stand him [Biden], and he can’t stand Obama. Obama had a part because he said he wasn’t going to support him. [Former House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi dumped him. They all dumped him, and they said, either you get out nice or we are going after you. That’s what happened, and he had no choice. There’s no question about it,” Trump claimed.

He added that the June 27 presidential debate was the turning point. 

 “He was not good at the debate. And I think I was good. I think that was the end of Biden, frankly,” Trump insisted.

Not woke enough: Why is BLM up in arms against Harris’ endorsement by Democrats?

Even leftists are not happy with VP Kamala Harris. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement reportedly disapproves of Harris as a presidential candidate from Democrats.

🔸The Dems failed to create a mechanism that “allows for public participation in the nomination process, (allowing instead) just a nomination by party delegates," the BLM said in a statement.

🔸The Democratic National Committee should “immediately host an informal, virtual snap primary across the country prior to the DNC convention in August."

🔸“A 24-hour process of talking to party bosses is not democratic, nor is it a process Democrats should be proud of."

🔸“Installing Harris as the Democratic nominee, without any public voting process, would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites."

Switzerland will host US-initiated peace talks on Sudan

The US has invited the Sudanese army and the paramilitary, Rapid Support Forces (RSF), for ceasefire talks in Switzerland, Reuters reports, citing US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. 

The negotiations will start on August 14, with the American side mediating the process. RSF have already confirmed their participation to achieve "a comprehensive ceasefire across the country, and facilitate humanitarian access to all those in need."

According to Blinken, the talks will include the African Union, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations as observers, with Saudi Arabia as co-host for the discussions.

Since April 2023, fighting has been ongoing in Sudan between the RSF, commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and the regular army. The parties have been exchanging contradictory statements over the development of the conflict, and the control of facilities. They have also launched a large-scale information war on media and social networks.

The situation in the country is not improving despite talks between the warring parties in Jeddah that began on May 6, 2023.

The conflict in Sudan has forced a total of 3.4 million people to flee to neighboring countries, the World Health Organization reported earlier.
