‘I am not intimidated and I will continue to speak out’ - Scott Ritter on FBI searching his home

The search warrant is related to concerns the US government has about violations of the Foreign Agent Registration Act, Ritter told reporters, commenting on the situation.

“I will tell you right now, I am not in violation of the Foreign Agent Registration Act,“ he said.

Ritter added that there is no doubt that he’s being targeted because of statements he’s made about US policy in Ukraine, as well as his effort to try and improve relations between the United Sates and Russia, to try to bring about arms control and peace.

This has a chilling impact on free speech, he underscored.

“I am not intimidated and I will continue to speak out and I will continue to do what I do, because that’s my responsibility as American citizen and I will continue to operate in that manner,“ Ritter concluded.

Earlier, the FBI and state police raided Scott Ritter’s home in New York state, according to local media reports.

Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance explained what really bothers him about Tim Walz

"When the US Marine Corps asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did it. When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, he dropped out of the army and allowed his unit to go without him. I think that's shameful," Vance said.

‘Today, the United States government declared war on me’ - Scott Ritter speaks out on the FBI raid

The FBI search warrant on his home in New York included looking for his electronic devices, computers and cell phone, Ritter shared via a video message.

He pointed out that the raid was designed to have a chilling effect and to make him “think twice about speaking out, about writing, about doing podcasts.“

“Today, the United States government declared war on me. They declared war on my ability to write, my ability to speak, my ability to interact with the American people and with the broader international audience. So be it. We’re at war,“ Scott Ritter emphasized.

With a terrorist operation in Russia's Kursk region, Ukraine wants to "profitably show" the remnants of forces to receive money and weapons, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"After the events in the Kursk region, the special military operation in [Ukraine] should acquire an extraterritorial character, the terrorist operation of Bandera should remove the taboo," he added.

The West is promoting a destructive agenda in the South Caucasus, the purpose of which is fragmentation of the region, and the destruction of historical ties with Russia, said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova

The United States in the South Caucasus seeks to undermine the system of public administration, control the resource base, use the potential of transit, she said.

Trying to tear the South Caucasian republics, including Armenia, from Russia, the United States is interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states, Zakharova recalled.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien in his statement actually admitted that Washington is trying to create conditions for a break between Yerevan and Moscow. He said a significant part of Armenia's population want to distance themselves from Russia, and the United States is creating conditions for this.

"The US statements that Armenia wants to turn away from Russia are unfounded, the ties between Russia and Armenia that have been formed over centuries will withstand all the tests of strength," Zakharova concluded.

Hezbollah could strike Israel independent of Iran – report

The Lebanon-based militant group, Hezbollah, is “moving faster than Iran” in its plan of response to the recent assassinations of Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut and Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, unnamed sources told CNN.

Hezbollah may strike Israel in the coming days "with little to no notice", an attack that will most likely come independent of whatever Iran may intend to do, the sources claimed.

The Islamic Republic is apparently still mulling over its plan for a response to Israel, the insiders argued, adding that Iran could make some preparations, but not all of what the US expected to see, before Tehran’s possible major attack on Israel.

Tel Aviv earlier warned that any harm to Israeli civilians from Hezbollah and Iran’s possible retaliation would be a red line, which would result in a disproportionate response by the Jewish state.

Macron engages in phone diplomacy as Mideast tensions heat up

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid a "cycle of retaliation" in the Middle East conflict during a phone conversation, the BFMTV broadcaster reported, citing the Elysee Palace.

Macron also reportedly made the same call to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The French president added that a possible war between Israel and Lebanon would have "devastating consequences" for the entire region, the report read.

Earlier, Israel carried out the assassination of Hezbollah's top military commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut last week. As far as the killing of Hamas political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran on July 31 is concerned, Israel has not claimed responsibility for it, although the Hamas movement and Iran have blamed Haniyeh's death on Israel.

Hezbollah could strike Israel independent of Iran – report  The Lebanon-based militant group, Hezbollah, is “moving faster than Iran” in its plan of response to the recent assassinations of Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut and Hamas…
Israel has told the US that Lebanese Hezbollah will pay a disproportionate price if it harms Israeli civilians in its retaliation for the assassination of its top commander, Fuad Shukr, the Axios news portal reported, citing two Israeli officials.

Israel has recently warned the US of its concern that Hezbollah could strike populated areas if it attempts to attack military bases in central Israel. In particular, Israeli officials pointed to previous inaccurate missile attacks by the movement.

"In the internal discussions with the US, Israel stressed that the cost of another Hezbollah mishap would be heavy, and that Hezbollah would pay a disproportionate price if it harmed civilians as part of its retaliation”, an Israeli official was quoted by the news portal as saying.

Gas prices in Europe increased by 5.8% after Ukrainian attack on Russia's Kursk region - report

According to the ICE trading data, September gas supply futures rose from $410 to $438 per thousand cubic meters. This is attributed to the Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region where the Sudzha gas measuring station, with a capacity of 42 million cubic meters per day, is located.

The exchange price of gas in Europe exceeded $435 per cubic meter for the first time since December 2023.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the situation in the region a "large-scale provocation by the Kiev regime,” who he said “is conducting indiscriminate shooting, including from missile weapons, at residential buildings and civilian infrastructure as well as ambulances. "

Hunter Biden received 'millions' of dollars from Romania to influence US gov't during his father's vice presidency- court

US Department of Justice Special Counsel David Weiss's office found that Biden received "substantial" sums of money from foreign firms and individuals in exchange for acting as a lobbyist, consultant, or legal adviser.

Hunter Biden worked for Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu (referred to as G.P. in the document) to help him escape bribery charges in Romania, Weiss's office also revealed.

"The evidence of what the defendant agreed to do and did do for G.P. demonstrates the defendant's state of mind and intent during the relevant tax years charged in the indictment. It is also evidence that the defendants actions do not reflect someone with a diminished capacity, given that he agreed to attempt to influence U.S. public policy and receive millions of dollars," the document said.

In November 2023, House Republicans subpoenaed the president's brother James Biden and Hunter Biden to appear for a deposition before lawmakers. In May, Smith said that Hunter Biden had repeatedly lied to Congress in his February deposition to distance his involvement in what should be considered a "clear scheme to enrich the Biden family."

The House of Representatives is investigating the Biden family for alleged criminal activity, including foreign influence peddling and bribery.

UK mulls slashing military budget due to $27 bn fiscal hole – report

The British Ministry of Defense (MoD) has urged its major industry suppliers to find opportunities for immediate cuts in the country’s military budget, reports the Financial Times, citing unnamed sources.

In a letter to the defense contractors, the ministry’s civil servants asked them to respond with a range of options to help tackle what they described as a “significant in-year fiscal pressure”, according to the sources.

The officials were “particularly keen” to hear about areas where we could drive out duplication and waste to our mutual benefit", one of the insiders argued.

The contractors were told the MoD would have to make some “hard choices” that “align with this [new Labor] government’s spending target of 2.5% of GDP [gross domestic product] on defense.”

This comes amid reports that Chancellor Rachel Reeves is seeking to find savings to resolve a £22-billion ($27.9 billion) fiscal hole, which she argues is caused by the former Conservative government.
