"No press patches, no variation in colour in the clothes and body armour. Are you at risk? What we know about electronics makers linked to Lebanon blasts
Handheld communication device makers are in damage control after explosions in Lebanon left many dead and injured. The incident highlighted a terrifying new risk: intelligence services can now use devices not only to spy but also to kill. Here’s what we know about the companies behind the products involved:
▪️ Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese maker of alphanumeric pagers and wireless solutions, is at the center of the events after its AR924 series pagers exploded en masse in Lebanon and Syria. Founder Hsu Ching-Kuang told media the pagers were produced by BAC Consulting KFT, a dubious Hungary-based subcontractor registered in 2022 with only one employee, operating from a small residential building in Budapest.
▪️ Hsu says Gold Apollo did not design or manufacture the deadly pagers - thought to have been stuffed with 3 grams of explosives. Reached for commentary, BAC Consulting CEO Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, an LSE and University of London graduate and former European Commission advisor, told US media she did “not make the pagers” and was “just the intermediary.” A government spokesman confirmed that BAC Consulting has no manufacturing presence in Hungary.
▪️ Icom Incorporated: Osaka-headquartered radio, wireless LAN and SIP solutions maker Icom is the other company implicated through its explosive IC-V82 VHF series of handheld walkie-talkies. The company said it can't confirm shipments to Lebanon, as production of the model stopped in 2014, and noted issues with counterfeiters using its brand.
▪️ Lebanese media reported that various electronic devices, including home solar systems, car batteries, electric scooters, laptops, fingerprint scanners, and iPhones, exploded in this week’s incidents. While Apple has faced past issues with iPhones catching fire or being used for spying, there is no confirmation of iPhones being deliberately used as explosive devices in Lebanon.

'Kamala is fundamentally a cog in the wheel of a very corrupt machine' - US Senator JD Vance (Part 1 👉 Part 2)
JD Vance, a US Senator and a Republicans' VP nominee for the upcoming elections, harshly criticized Kamala Harris during an overnight interview with Tucker Carlson.
The politician said he was afraid to even imagine the future that awaits America if the Democrats win the election.
💬 "She's fundamentally a cog in the wheel of a very corrupt machine. That scares the hell out of me when that person goes to negotiate with a world leader about a hot war. So, okay, we’re talking about a substance – and I know you’re into politics too, I don't know, like, if, God forbid, the Russia-Ukraine thing becomes a broader regional war. I don't know if that helps Kamala Harris or hurts her, I almost think it's like too grotesque to even think about, because hundreds of thousands and maybe more people would be dying and I would just be terrified for the country and terrified for humanity." - JD Vance said in the interview.

'Kamala could be doing much more than she's doing now' - US Senator JD Vance (Part 2 👉 Part 1)
JD Vance and Tucker Carlson have certainly raised the issue of the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump. During the discussion, the politician condemns the current administration's inaction and lack of response to the incident.
💬 “This should be actually a media scandal. So, Kamala Harris is running against Donald Trump for president. Kamala Harris runs the government right now, and Donald Trump came within millimeters of having his life taken by a massive security breakdown. She should be using every lever of power to force insight and to force some sunlight into what’s actually been going on here,” Vance said.
💬 “The fact that she’s totally uninterested in it, I think is a real scandal. Her political opponent nearly got killed and she has not used her government to actually investigate why or what security breakdowns led to him almost getting killed,” Vance continued. “The media and everybody else should be really p***ed off about this because she could be doing much more than she’s doing right now.”
