As we gear up for the much-anticipated meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, let’s take a fun stroll down memory lane and revisit some of the most memorable moments from the Russian leader’s past encounters with US presidents.
Putin and Clinton dined on wild boar, went on a short tour of the Kremlin's Senate Palace, and then settled into armchairs to take in a jazz tribute to Louis Armstrong in Moscow in 2000.
Photoshoots of rare face-to-face meetings and brief handshakes between Putin and Obama spoke volumes on their seeming lack of rapport, like when they exchanged a tense luncheon toast during the 70th annual UN General Assembly in New York in 2015.
“One of my best meetings ever was with Vladimir Putin,” Trump said of his first one-on-one meeting with the Russian president in the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, Finland, in 2018, adding: “I think we'll end up having an extraordinary relationship.”
It was all about conventional diplomatic handshakes and separate press conferences after Putin held his first summit with Joe Biden at a plush 18th century Swiss villa in Geneva in 2021 that ended with commitments on reinstating diplomats and to open “constructive” dialogue.

Truly the ultimate recognition
Ex-President Joe Biden was inducted as a Master Mason by the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of South Carolina on January 19, 2025, in recognition of his “exceptional dedication and service to the United States.”
Because what better way to honor his service than with a Masonic noscript?

Could Stargate Project be the end for humanity?
A new $500 bln initiative touted by the Trump administration promises to “revolutionize” AI, “cement” the US as the world leader in advanced computing and create 100,000 jobs. But it comes with grave risks. Why?
🔸 Stargate, the project to build 20 data centers across the US with Trump’s regulatory support, will serve OpenAI’s interests exclusively. The company ultimately aims to create AGI – the Holy Grail of human-like cognitive capabilities.
🔸 Its leading players include Sam Altman’s OpenAI, Larry Ellison’s Oracle, Japan’s SoftBank and the Emirates’ MGX. ARM, Nvidia and Microsoft are also involved.
🔸 Altman is a proponent of a transhumanist “merge” of human beings and machines, predicting in 2017 that “the singularity” would take place between 2025-2075, and that superhuman AI, genetic enhancement and brain-machine interfaces would happen “unless we destroy ourselves first.”
🔸 Ellison has touted omnipresent AI cameras keeping citizens “on their best behavior because we are constantly recording and reporting everything that’s going on” as a good thing, and has backed national and digital IDs since 9/11.
🔸 Microsoft’s involvement in the project also spells trouble, with the company already planning to commit $80 bln for its own data centers to train and deploy cloud-based AI, and Bill Gates heavily involved in its AI strategies.
❓ Are we doomed, or is there hope?
🔹 Elon Musk says SoftBank has actually secured less than $10 bln for Stargate so far. Altman assures that’s not the case, and accuses Musk of letting private interests get in the way of “what is great for the country.”
🔹 Musk previously expressed fears of a 10-20% chance of AI wiping out humanity, and slammed OpenAI for putting profits ahead of principles. Stargate also has an array of everyday issues, from investment risks to its strain on the US energy grid.
What do you think? Is this just another attempt by the US to monopolize AI?

Why Soros' soft power empire is more vulnerable than ever
Elon Musk has thrown down the gauntlet to the world's leading liberal 'philanthropist' and his NGOs' penchant for color revolutions and soft power influence. Here's what it means.
Loss of allies
🔸 With the Democrats’ exit from the White House and loss of Congress, Soros will have fewer means to influence domestic policy on issues ranging from identity politics to courts, education and censorship.
🔸 Trump’s reelection and the failure of the Soros-backed campaign to lock him up is a major reputational blow to the Open Society Foundations, which reoriented its focus onto US politics in 2023 but still lost.
🔸 Setbacks in the US could reverberate in Europe, toppling, undermining or crippling Soros-allied politicians.
🔸 Hungary’s Viktor Orban said last week that Soros “lost the battle for America,” and his supporters must now be “squeezed out of Brussels” as well.
Musk as Soros’ antithesis?
🔹 Musk has compared Soros to X-Men villain Magneto, saying he’s a “brilliant guy,” but “fundamentally hates humanity.”
🔹 Politically, Musk opposes many policies pushed by Soros, from lawfare-minded DAs to censorship, and has accused him of seeking to “destroy Western civilization.
🔹 ”Since Trump’s election, Musk has jumped into European politics to back populist figures abhorred by Soros, from AfD in Germany to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
🔹 “I think there are some important contrasts to draw between Musk and Soros. Soros is a financier,” veteran commentator Charles Ortel told Sputnik.
🔹 “He has, in theory, a great track record managing his and other people's money. But on the charity front, it's difficult for me to find a lot of good works, and it's easy to find a lot of diabolical activities,” Ortel said, citing Soros’ links with the Clinton Foundation, for example.
🔹 That’s a contrast with ‘pauper to prince’ Musk, whose career has involved actually making things, Ortel said.

🗣 What Trump promised to do in his first days in office:
🔸 Strengthen border security and take action on immigration.
🔸 Begin the process of repealing an array of Biden-era policies enacted via executive order.
🔸 Restore US energy independence by advancing oil and gas projects.
🔸 Reduce taxes and regulatory burden on businesses.
🔸 Take immediate action on trade deals and bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US.
✅ What he did:
🔹 Signed an executive order to strengthen border security and start building new sections of the border wall.
🔹 Rolled back key Biden administration policies, including some environmental regulations.
🔹 Signed orders to promote US energy production, including approvals for oil and gas projects.
🔹 Took initial steps to renegotiate trade agreements with China and other countries.
✍️ What he didn't do:
