🤔🇬🇧 A new approach to security - British style

It seems the UK Ministry of Defence has found a new way to keep secrets — by scattering them across the streets of Newcastle. On March 16, confidential military documents were found carelessly lying around in the Scotswood area.

These papers, linked to the Catterick Garrison, contained sensitive details like military ranks, email addresses, shift schedules, and info on weapons and intrusion detection systems. Despite guidelines to shred or burn such documents, someone missed the memo.

The "official – sensitive" markings suggest potential "moderate damage" to Britain’s strategic position, with rare cases involving life-threatening risks.

The Ministry of Defence is now "investigating" the incident - let’s hope they find the rest of the papers before someone else does.

🔎 Elon Musk unveils the extent of DOGE’s operations

"The government is not efficient, and there's a lot of waste and fraud. So we feel confident that a 15% reduction can be done without affecting any of the critical government services," he told Fox News.

"This is a revolution. And I think it might be the biggest revolution in government since the original revolution. But at the end of the day, America's going to be in much better shape," explained the head of DOGE.

Musk, alongside DOGE members Steve Davis, Joe Gebbia, Aram Moghaddassi, Brad Smith, Anthony Armstrong, Tom Krause, and Tyler Hassen, shared a behind-the-scenes look at the department’s work, from the IRS to Social Security.

As of March 27, DOGE claims it has saved Americans $130 billion, or $807.45 per taxpayer, according to its website.

🇬🇧🤬 Britain cracks down on ‘ninja swords’ while knives keep taking lives

The UK’s ban on the possession of “ninja swords,” introduced after the last year’s ban on machetes and “zombie” knives, comes as the country struggles with rampant knife crime.

In the year ending June 2024, over 50,000 knife-related offenses were reported in England and Wales (excluding Greater Manchester), a sharp increase from the roughly 36,000 crimes recorded in 2011.

The government tries tackling this crisis via a mix of bans on various sharp implements and awareness-raising programs such as the "Be Safe Project" aimed at educating students about the implications of knife crime.

Meanwhile, critics argue that instead of focusing on weapons, the government should go after perpetrators, with some arguing that the ongoing influx of illegal migrants in the UK may be a part of the problem.

The ban, largely inspired by the tragic death of 16-year-old Ronan Kanda, who was killed with a "ninja sword" in 2022, raises the question: why fight the root causes of knife crime when banning ninja swords seems like a quicker fix?

🇬🇱 'We must ensure the US leads in the Arctic' — JD Vance's message in Greenland

The US vice president delivered a speech during his visit to the Pituffik military base in northern Greenland. Here are the main points:

🔶 Denmark has failed to protect the island, Vance says. "This place is less safe than it was 30-40 years ago," he claimed.

🔶 Greenland's infrastructure, security architecture and manpower are "underinvested" and "that has to change," Vance said.

🔶 "The people of Greenland will have self-determination. We hope they choose to partner with the United States because we're the only nation on earth that respects their sovereignty," he added.

🔶 Meanwhile, in the United States, Donald Trump added his voice to the Greenland issue:

"We need Greenland for international security. We have to have Greenland."
