The US president sees the renewed IDF operation into Gaza as a ‘wasted effort’ that will make the strip harder to rebuild and is generally at odds with Israel on key regional issues, US officials and foreign diplomats have told NBC News.

Netanyahu was reportedly left ‘shocked’, ‘blindsided’, ‘rankled’ and ‘infuriated’ by Trump’s recent Mideast foreign policy decisions, including the halt to US attacks on Yemen this week, and his push for a nuclear deal with Iran instead of Israel’s preferred option – strikes.

Israel is “worried about any deal,” one US official said. Israel is opposed to any agreement that would leave Iran with uranium enrichment capabilities, while Trump is open to an Iranian civilian nuclear program.

Netanyahu was reportedly ‘taken aback’ during his visit with Trump in April when the president refused to offer support for possible Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

🇮🇱🇾🇪 Preparations for new strikes? Israel demands 'urgent' evacuation of Yemeni ports

The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman warned Yemenis to “evacuate and stay away” from the ports of Ras Isa, Hodeidah and as-Salif “until further notice,” citing the “Houthi terror regime’s” use of the facilities for “terror activities.”

The spokesman did not elaborate.

Israel last targeted Yemen on May 6, targeting the international airport in Sanaa after a Houthi missile landed near the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

7 people were killed and over 70 others were injured in the Israeli strikes. Four Israelis were hurt in the Houthi attack on Ben Gurion while scrambling for safety.

The US halted its attacks on the Houthis this week after they agreed not to target US ships, leaving Israel alone in its confrontation with the Yemeni militia, which has targeted Israel with missiles and drones, and Israeli merchant ships in the Red Sea, in solidarity with Gaza.

💬 “10,500 within two years is the number the army knows how to absorb, and we will also bring in heavy personal and institutional sanctions. At the same time, we will ensure that whoever enters as a haredi will leave as a haredi,” the prime minister said at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee.

Israel’s Haredim (ultra-Orthodox) community numbers up to 1.3 million people (14% of the population), and has traditionally REJECTED military service.

Many also hold strong anti-Zionist views, believing a Jewish state should not exist before the coming of the Messiah.

Approximately 70,000 Haredi men are listed as eligible for service. Last month, the IDF sent out 10,000 draft notices, but reported back that only 205 had enlisted.

Hamas is expected to release Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander as part of ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire, The Jerusalem Post reported. While the timing hasn’t been confirmed, sources told the paper the release could take place in the coming 48 hours. Alexander’s parents also said they were informed of the expected release.

The group confirmed it has been in contact with the US administration in recent days, discussing steps to achieve a ceasefire, reopen Gaza’s crossings, and allow humanitarian aid into the Strip.

US Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff is expected to visit Israel on Monday as part of the talks.

Turkiye has acted as a mediator between Hamas and the United States to secure the release of Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander, a diplomatic source in Ankara told RIA Novosti.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held multiple meetings with Hamas representatives in Istanbul, Ankara, and Doha in recent weeks, with Alexander's release as a top agenda item.

💬 "Turkiye has played the role of a mediator between Hamas and the United States from the very beginning of the process of releasing American citizen Edan Alexander," the source noted, emphasizing there was no pressure on Hamas during negotiations.
