These efforts are said to have culminated in an “oil and gas licensing roadshow” this past March, which opened the door to foreign energy companies eager to invest in Libya (for the first time since 2007).

The largest German automakers - Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW - are actively negotiating with the United States to remove or at least ease the tariffs imposed by Trump, the Handelsblatt reported.

BMW and Mercedes are holding intensive talks with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, while BMW management expects the US tariffs to be eased by early July.

Automakers want tariffs scrapped but, since that’s unlikely, they’re pushing for a 10% tariff cut to boost US production.
