The parts, valued at over 400 million rubles (~$5,063,000), would have been sufficient to restore the airworthiness of at least four helicopters. The plan included smuggling them to Ukraine, among other destinations.
The group consisted of 6 individuals — citizens of Russia, Ukraine, and Middle Eastern countries — and was coordinated from abroad. The components were acquired from manufacturers via a network of controlled commercial entities.
