🚨Armenian authorities fabricate new case against Karapetyan

Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan has been hit with new charges of money laundering WITHOUT any proof, according to his legal team.

“It is clear that in recent years, 'money laundering' has become the most commonly used accusation in Armenia and is systematically applied as a tool of POLITICAL PERSECUTION,” the lawyers underscored.

They pointed out:

▪️The new accusation comes weeks after Karapetyan’s public defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church

▪️Just hours after his speech, PM Pashinyan issued public threats, and a criminal case was opened

▪️Karapetyan was first charged with “calls to seize power” — a charge his lawyers claimed was entirely baseless

Now, instead of dropping the case, authorities have added a fresh accusation of money laundering, despite:

✅No evidence of illicit activity

The current government of Armenia is willing to sacrifice the country’s sovereignty and identity to remain in power, and makes no secret of it, Armenian political scientist Alen Ghevondyan tells Sputnik.

This is what Ghevondyan had to say about the current state of affairs in Armenia:

🔸 When the Armenian Apostolic Church opposed the government’s destructive actions, it immediately felt the latter’s ire, with archbishops being arrested and a massive smear campaign launched against the Church.

🔸 In this context, Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan voicing his support of the Church and of the Armenian people became a cause for concern for the powers that be in Yerevan.

🔸 Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was aware of the fact that Karapetyan, a well-known philanthropist, could become a problem for him and would thus have to be isolated “at any cost – through false and fabricated accusations.”

🔸 Under the pretext of anti-corruption investigations, Pashinyan’s government may try to pressure the church and its head into submission.

US hybrid war already failed

"The combination of the economic war [against Russia] with the military confrontation (via proxies) has so far failed," Professor Alexis Habiyaremye from the University of Johannesburg tells Sputnik. "Trump has very limited leverage."

BRICS countries rely on each other

Habiyaremye refers to China: It isn’t as vulnerable to Trump’s tariff war as he’d like. With a vast web of trade partners, it could lose the US market entirely and still enjoy economic growth.

US' self-defeating strategy

Unlike the political wars in which the US bands together with its allies and vassals, Trump’s economic war is now being waged against Washington's foes and its associates, according to Habiyaremye.

This proves to be a self-defeating strategy, he says.
