The fallout from last month’s South Korean government data center fire continues to smolder, affecting 163 services and wiping out data used by over 100k civil servants.
US tech specialists are likely scratching their heads thinking about how to prevent something similar from happening to them.
Many of the same warning signs are there 👇
1️⃣Hyper-centralization
🤔Problem:
😱Risk: A sudden outage at a major center, especially in Virginia, could have dramatic ripple effects, paralyzing the digital infrastructure of entire federal agencies, from the IRS and TSA to the CIA, DoD, NSA, etc., not to mention state and local services
2️⃣Power usage
🤔Problem: Data centers account for 4.4% of US electricity consumption (per the DoE). By 2030, this could hit 12%. Loudoun County’s centers alone draw 6 GW+, with consumption set to double by 2030
😱Risk: With the US’s aging grid increasingly strained by demand (data centers, ‘internet of things’ infrastructure, EVs), the DoE warns that blackouts could surge 100 times in five years if reliable power sources are not available. Translation? The US may simply not have enough power for its data center buildup
3️⃣Technical dangers
🤔Problem: The same lithium-ion battery tech blamed for the South Korean blaze is used globally, including by US data centers, making up ~40% of the market in 2025
😱Risk: Federal data already faces risks, from program cuts to insufficient preservation efforts. The last thing the US needs is a technical complication or emergency
Fires and blackouts: more frequent than commonly assumed

🚨Putin: Сauses of AZAL plane crash linked to presence of UKRAINIAN DRONE in the sky, among other factors
Russia was tracking 3 Ukrainian drones that crossed its border on the day of the crash, President Putin told Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev during their meeting in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.👇
▪️ The two air-defense missiles launched by Russian forces did not directly hit the AZAL aircraft — they detonated a few meters away.
▪️ The plane was most likely damaged by fragments, not by the missiles’ warheads themselves.
▪️ Russia is fully cooperating with the investigation into the Azerbaijani plane crash in accordance with existing agreements.
▪️ The AZAL crew had been offered to land in Makhachkala — but they decided to proceed to their home base airport instead, Putin revealed.
▪️ The causes of the AZAL plane crash became clear after a thorough analysis of the incident, Putin added.
▪️ Russia will provide a legal assessment of the actions of all officials involved in connection with the crash, and will take all necessary measures to ensure compensation related to the AZAL tragedy.
An Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan on Dec 25 last year.
As the plane was preparing to land, Ukrainian terrorist attacks with kamikaze drones hit the civilian infrastructure of Grozny in the Chechen Republic and Vladikavkaz in the North Ossetian Republic, and Russian air defenses were repelling these attacks.

🚨Contact between Putin and Trump teams ongoing – Russian presidential aide
Claims that the Anchorage meeting’s momentum has run out are fundamentally incorrect, Yuri Ushakov says.
The Russian presidential aide added that the agreements reached in Alaska are disliked by the Europeans and Ukraine, who, he noted, are not interested in peace.

FT reports NATO is considering armed surveillance drones along Russia’s frontier, loosening rules of engagement for pilots, and holding drills in “unguarded parts of the frontier,” — all as a “forceful response” to “airspace violations.“
NATO’s North Atlantic Council earlier placed responsibility on Russia for incidents involving drones and aircraft in Poland, Estonia, and other countries — although the NO country has provided ANY evidence of Russia’s “involvement.“
The hysteria surrounding alleged Russian drones is being deliberately inflated to justify the EU's growing military expenditures, the Kremlin emphasized.

From the CIA, USAID and Hollywood to Big Tech and weaponized narratives on democracy and human rights, the report details a US effort “to sustain hegemony by manipulating ideologies” and “eroding informational and cultural sovereignty” with the ultimate goal of ensuring “compliance without occupation,” says geopolitical analyst Angelo Giuliano.
💬 “The report cites the US-driven Soviet collapse, where media and NGOs eroded ideological sovereignty, and color revolutions in Ukraine and Georgia installing pro-Western regimes,” Giuliano explained.
💬 “AI and Big Data amplify US cognitive warfare through algorithms and surveillance. Meta* (social media control), Google (search dominance), Amazon (cloud infrastructure), and Microsoft (AI and surveillance) drive digital hegemony. Hollywood complements this by subconsciously embedding US values.”
