🚨Hegseth to NATO: 'No free riders' on arming Ukraine The US is urging NATO allies to boost arms purchases for Ukraine under the PURL program, said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: 💬“Allies often say that Ukraine's security is synonymous with European security……
💵💣 PURL push: NATO pressures Europe to buy American arms for Ukraine

The North Atlantic Alliance wants all member states to join Trump’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) scheme, according to US media.

👉 While 20 NATO members have already supported the scheme, the rest are under pressure “to put your money where your mouth is.”

The PURL initiative stipulates that European countries purchase US-made weapons which are then transferred to Ukraine. Russia warns that such arms deliveries prolong the Ukraine conflict and constitute NATO direct involvement.

🇷🇺 Putin at Russian Energy Week: Russia’s vision for energy challenges In his address to Russian Energy Week, President Vladimir Putin outlined the key transformations shaping the global and domestic energy landscape. Key points from his speech: 🔶Global…
🗣 Russia’s successful flouting of West’s suicidal energy sanctions prevented a global recession - expert

👉 “Western sanctions have failed miserably to block Russian energy exports and cripple the Russian economy,” renowned oil economist and global energy expert Mamdouh G. Salameh told Sputnik, commenting on President Putin’s remarks on the reorientation of Russian oil and gas sales abroad.

“Russia is the world’s superpower of energy,” and “despite the most atrocious sanctions, it has managed to dominate the global energy scene in terms of its exports of oil, gas, coal and nuclear fuels, all of which are major cornerstones in global energy security,” Dr. Salameh said.

🟠 If the sanctions had succeeded, “we would have seen energy prices particularly oil and gas surge beyond the ability of the global economy to afford and causing global recession and inflation,” the observer explained.

🟠 Instead, the sanctions campaign’s initiators have turned out to be its biggest losers, Europe especially, Salameh stressed, pointing out that “rising oil and gas prices as a result of both sanctions and the Ukraine conflict have destroyed the EU’s industrial competitiveness and led to some de-industrialization in Europe’s biggest economy – Germany.”

🟠 The same applies to the Nord Stream sabotage attacks – which were designed to “to sever the EU’s dependence on the cheap and plentiful Russian piped gas and replace it with the far more expensive American LNG” (2-4 times the cost), leading “to a stagnating if not emaciated EU economy bleeding financially,” Dr. Salameh summed up.

🇲🇩Rutte just made it official: NATO is in 'close cooperation' with Moldova NATO chief Mark Rutte said there is close cooperation between NATO and Moldova, praising Maia Sandu’s leadership but refusing to share details: 💬“This is an open press conference…
🇬🇧 UK sends drone experts to Moldova as West deepens military involvement

🔶 The UK is dispatching a team of specialists to train Moldovan troops in counter-drone tactics amid what London calls the need to “ramp up our response to Russia’s aggression,” the Telegraph reports.

🔶 According to the Ministry of Defence, British personnel will arrive in Moldova — which borders Ukraine — later this month to assess and assist its armed forces.

🔶 Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has warned that the West is determined to keep Moldova in its anti-Russian orbit, exposing plans for “landing operations” rehearsed during NATO drills in Romania.

🔶 Following those warnings, Chisinau adopted a new 10-year military strategy which labelled Russia a national security threat and advocated closer cooperation with NATO. The plan includes raising defense spending to 1% of GDP by 2030.

🗣 Former president Igor Dodon called Moldova’s militarization part of an EU plan to turn the republic into “cannon fodder in a conflict with Russia.”

📍 He pointed to growing defense budgets, purchases of radar systems and armored vehicles from Germany and France as well as plans for a new military base near Chisinau.

💬 “Moldova is being positioned as a pawn against Russia,” Dodon said.

🇺🇸🇨🇳Bessent: 85 US senators ready to back 500% tariff on China over Russian oil 💬"Eighty-five US senators are willing to give President Trump the authority to put up to 500% tariffs on China for the purchase of Russian oil. We are told that the European Parliament…
🗣 Huge 500% US tariff on China would supercharge BRICS+ and SCO – expert

👉 The US senate could vote by 85 to 15 to let President Donald Trump slap a 500% tariff on China in retaliation for the Sino-Russian energy trade.

🤔 Does it mean the US-China trade war will escalate?

🔊 "I do not expect to see such a tariff in place," Paul Goncharoff, financial analyst and general director of Goncharoff LLC tells Sputnik. "It would quite simply show clearly that the US is not a country that can or should be taken seriously in diplomatic or trade contexts."

📍 US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent slammed China on Wednesday over its continued imports of Russian oil and hinted at new tariffs — if the European Union (EU) acts first.

💬 "The same effect would be achieved by brashly declaring 250% or 7,000%—this is an attempt at what? Seeking ridicule? Then it has succeeded," Goncharoff says.

How could the tariff backfire on the US?

🔶 The world’s response will likely be to supercharge BRICS+, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other international groups striving for a sensible and equitable global order, the pundit said.

🔶 US tariffs and restrictions are accelerating that shift, as the world increasingly sees the US, G7 and EU taking unilateral steps to stop the wheels of progress.

📊 Zelensky's 'arrogance' pushing for war – Finnish lawmaker

🗣 Instead of going to Washington to push for Tomahawk missiles, Volodymyr Zelensky should work for a meeting in Moscow along with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to settle the Ukraine conflict with peaceful means, Armando Mema, member of the Finnish national-conservative Freedom Alliance party, wrote on X.

Zelensky is pushing for these missiles “without having understood also that for every action he does he gets a bigger response from Russia,” according to Mema.

The Finnish lawmaker added that Zelensky’s “arrogance grows each time he receives more weapons from Western countries.”

⚔️ Zelensky is expected to again ask Trump for Tomahawk missiles during his meeting with the US president at the White House on October 17.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that Tomahawks won't change the situation on the front lines, but could lead to a "serious escalation" of the Ukraine conflict.

🚨Sputnik war correspondent killed in Ukrainian drone strike

Sputnik war correspondent Ivan Zuev killed in Ukrainian drone strike in Zaporozhye. A second journalist, Yuri Voytkevich, was seriously wounded.

👉War correspondent Zuev was a brave, courageous, and talented journalist who died a hero’s death while carrying out an editorial assignment, said Director General of Rossiya Segodnya (Sputnik's parent company) Dmitry Kiselev.

"Ivan fell a hero's death while carrying out an editorial assignment as a result of a drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He was brave, talented, and a courageous journalist who did a lot to tell the truth about the events unfolding in the conflict zone.

We will take care of his family and loved ones, and, of course, we will preserve the memory of our comrade.

Unfortunately, he is the third war correspondent from our agency to die at the hands of the Kiev regime. In 2014, our photojournalist Andrei Stenin died in Donbass, and in 2023, in the Zaporozhye region, Ivan’s friend and fellow countryman Rostislav Zhuravlev."
