🤝 'Unfriendly' nations approach Russia at G20 with economic cooperation proposals

🟠 Representatives from several "unfriendly" countries approached Russia’s delegation at the G20 summit with proposals for economic cooperation, Maxim Oreshkin, head of the Russian delegation and deputy head of the Presidential Administration, said.

🟠 While Oreshkin didn't name names to avoid backlash from their partners, he noted that several nations approached Russia to discuss joint projects and strengthen economic ties.

💬 "A number of countries we consider unfriendly came forward with specific proposals on cooperation, how to establish economic relations with Russia, and implement joint projects. It wasn’t just one or two, but several countries with whom we managed to discuss this agenda,” Oreshkin said at a press conference following the summit.

🇺🇸🇰🇷 US-South Korea nuclear sub deal could spark ‘domino effect’ in volatile East Asia

👉 South Korea is on the verge of acquiring nuclear-powered attack submarines — with US approval and assistance — after a late-October meeting between Presidents Lee Jae-myung and Donald Trump in Gyeongju.

What’s in the deal

🔶 Allows South Korea to build its first nuclear-powered attack submarines (White House fact sheet)

🔶 Subs will be conventionally armed and powered by highly-enriched uranium the US will help source

🔶 Permits limited domestic uranium enrichment and spent fuel reprocessing capabilities

🟠 This move marks a sharp escalation in US-led militarization in the region, warns the South China Morning Post.

🟠 South Korea is set to become the seventh country to operate nuclear-powered submarines (albeit these will be attack submarines, not strategic ones). Currently, six countries operate nuclear-powered strategic subs.

🟠 The implications are profound: nuclear propulsion vastly extends underwater endurance, enhancing surveillance and strike capabilities far beyond conventional limits.

🟠 The US typically frames this deal as a response to North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs — but it does so by amplifying regional tensions, not easing them.

🔶 North Korea: Denounced the deal, warning of a “nuclear domino” effect and a potential “hot arms race”

🔶 China: Sees it as part of a broader US strategy to encircle and contain it, echoing concerns raised during the AUKUS submarine pact with Australia

🟠 As Dai Bing, China’s ambassador in South Korea, put it, the pact “goes beyond a purely commercial partnership, directly touching on the global non-proliferation regime and the stability of the Korean peninsula and the wider region.”

🇺🇸US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says "good progress" was made in the Geneva talks on Ukraine, calling the meeting "productive."

On Wednesday, US media reported that President Trump approved a 28-point plan for settling the Ukraine conflict, including a reduction in US military aid, recognition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, granting Russian language official status, and reducing Ukraine’s armed forces. The plan also calls for the recognition of Crimea and Donbass as Russian territories and a ban on foreign troops and long-range weapons in Ukraine.

Russian President Putin later stated that Trump’s plan could form the basis for a final settlement in Ukraine.

🇷🇺 Russia calls for increased African share of critical mineral export revenues at G20

🗣 "Regarding critical minerals and supply chain sustainability, it was emphasized that this issue should be removed from the agenda of restrictions, and of course, we stated that African countries, which have large reserves and significant production of critical minerals, should receive a larger share of the revenues," said Maxim Oreshkin, head of Russia’s delegation.

‘Dollar-Denominated Debt Should Be Thing of the Past,’ Says SA Economist

South Africa’s stance at the G20 signals a broader geopolitical and economic shift—one Dr. Nthabiseng Moleko said is both necessary and overdue.

🇺🇸 Speaking to Sputnik Africa, she noted that South Africa would broaden its trade horizons if relations with Washington deteriorate. In that case, the country would pivot toward BRICS partners, though meaningful trade would still require new terms and tackling barriers like certification and customs complexity.

On global economic governance, Moleko stressed the need for fair terms on climate finance and debt relief.

🟢 Those who historically emitted harmful gases, she argued, should bear more of the transition burden, while Africa builds the infrastructure and capacity needed to fully benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Area.

She also highlighted momentum for stronger African representation globally, saying AU inclusion as a G20 “plus one similar to the EU” is increasingly likely.

💰 Her strongest remarks focused on financial sovereignty:

“Dollar-denominated debt should be a thing of the past,” she said, noting how African currencies consistently lose value against the dollar.

Samurai sword rattling: Japan seeks to station missiles near China

📍 Japan’s Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi has announced that his country intends to deploy medium-range surface-to-air missiles on Yonaguni, a Japanese island located about 110 kilometers east of Taiwan.

🔊 Koizumi further insisted that this deployment is purely defensive and that “the view that it will heighten regional tensions is not accurate,” as quoted by Bloomberg.

🇨🇳🇯🇵 Relations between China and Japan soured after hardliner Sanae Takaichi became the latest Japanese prime minister.

🟠 Earlier in November, Takaichi threatened military action if China were to make a move on Taiwan.

🟠 China, which has always made it clear that the Taiwan issue can only be resolved peacefully, criticized Tokyo’s stance and advised Chinese tourists and students to not visit Japan.

💬 FCC paves way for 'fake news' media monopoly — Trump

Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy warns a proposed $6.2B Nexstar merger would put local news under anti-Trump control in 80% of US households.

According to legal scholars, the FCC is bypassing federal law in order to push this through without Congress.

"ABC & NBC… are a virtual arm of the Democrat Party. NO EXPANSION OF THE FAKE NEWS NETWORKS. If anything, make them SMALLER!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
