Joe Biden has criticised the Texas GOP’s priority voting bill, called Senate Bill 7, as a “part of an assault on democracy”.
“Today, Texas legislators put forth a bill that joins Georgia and Florida in advancing a state law that attacks the sacred right to vote. It’s part of an assault on democracy that we’ve seen far too often this year –and often disproportionately targeting Black and brown Americans. It’s wrong and un-American. In the 21st century, we should be making it easier, not harder, for every eligible voter to vote,” Biden said in a statement.

The Biden administration reportedly authorized U.S. embassies to fly LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter flags, as seen at the U.S. embassy in Athens, Greece.

The gesture has prompted backlash from many, including Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who introduced a new bill to prevent political flags other than the American flag from being flown outside U.S. embassies around the world.

🗣 "It is inappropriate for President Biden and Secretary Blinken to authorize and encourage the display of inherently political flags that are in no way affiliated with the U.S. Government over American embassies overseas," Malliotakis said,
🏛 The Texas Senate approved a bill that would empower poll watchers, create criminal penalties and add new restrictions on where, when and how to vote.

The Senate Bill 7 proposes cutting back on early voting, banning drive-thru voting and making it a felony for elected voting officials to send unsolicited mail ballot applications to Texas voters.

Texas has now taken a major step toward becoming the nation’s largest state to have implemented new GOP-backed rules making it harder to vote following the 2020 elections

Those states include Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

@real_DonaldJTrump has slammed the current US administration of Joe Biden for what he perceives as its failure to protect Israel, referring to the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip.

🗣"I think what's happened to Israel is one of the great injustices. If you look back 10 or 12 years ago, Israel was so protected by Congress. Congress loved Israel. Now, especially if you looked at the House, the House doesn't like Israel. The House is protective of anything other than Israel."

🇨🇭 The “Intercontinental” hotel in Geneva where it is rumored that US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet on June 16 has all rooms booked for the first half of that month, although there is no clear indication that the top-level Russia-US summit will be organized there, a Sputnik correspondent reports.

It is the same hotel where former US President Ronald Reagan met with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1985. The hotel also hosted the first talks between former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in 2009. Talks on Iran and Syria, as well as US-Russia consultations on disarmament have also been held here.

🇫🇷 Liberty is the gift that keeps being given?

France will send the US a second Statue of Liberty on the US’s Independence Day as a symbol of the two countries’ shared history and ‘spirit of friendship.’

The new statue will be 30 times smaller that the first Lady Liberty, however, and Americans will be able to enjoy it until 2031, as France wants it back in 10 years, defining the event as a loan from the Conservatoire du Quai d’Orsay museum.
