📮 Book of the Week 🥁🥁🥁
📚 Book Title: Moby-Dick
✍️ Author: Herman Melville
📅 Publication Year: 1851
🎭 Genre: Epic adventure, American literary classic, Philosophical fiction
🪷 Themes: obsession, fate, revenge, the sublime power of nature, human fragility
📖 Book at a Glance (no spoilers):
Melville’s masterpiece follows Ishmael, a wanderer who chooses to work as a sailor aboard the whaling ship Pequod. What begins as a mission for business becomes Captain Ahab’s relentless quest for revenge against the white whale, Moby Dick, who once bit off his leg. Yet Ahab’s philosophical obsession and the whale’s ineffability gives the story multiple layers of social, psychological, and philosophical significance.
🌊 This is no ordinary adventure fiction. It is an American classic that probes the deepest existential crises of humanity, as we face a world unfathomable and indifferent to our pain.

Coherence vs Cohesion: The difference that changes everything about how we communicate 🧠✨
These two are constantly mixed up by students (and honestly, who can blame them?) 😅 But once you get it, your writing will level up immediately. 📈
Cohesion 🔗 = the surface glue holding your text together
• Pronouns ("it," "she," "they")
• Linking words ("however," "therefore," "meanwhile")
• Repeated words and synonyms
Think: Does sentence B grammatically connect to sentence A?
Coherence 💡 = the deep logic that makes your message actually make sense
• Ideas flow logically
• Everything relates to your main point
• The reader can follow your meaning
Think: Does this mentally hang together?
The kicker: You can have perfect cohesion with zero coherence. 🤯
Example: "I love pizza. It has eight legs. Therefore, my grandmother knits on Tuesdays." 🍕🕷🧶
→ Has cohesion (pronouns, connectors) but zero coherence (makes no sense!)
Bottom line: Cohesion is the scaffolding. Coherence is whether you've actually built something meaningful. 🏗💬

🎬Facts about Dead Poets Society🎬
🎞️ Dead Poets Society was based on screenwriter Tom Schulman's real-life experiences in Montgomery Bell Academy, a prep school in Nashville.
🎞️ In the original noscript, the boys discover that Keating is dying of cancer. The scene intended to justify his focus on seizing the day, but Peter Weir saw the film stronger without it.
🎞️ To establish a believable boarding-school bond, Weir made the boys live together for weeks & immersed them in 1950s culture.
🎞️ Those on set could sense the sadness in Williams. "Even (to me) at 18, it was obvious he was in a tremendous amount of pain." Hawke revealed.
🎞️ While most of the cast was between 18-20, close to the characters' ages, Charlie Dalton's actor was the oldest at 29.
🎞️ Dead Poets Society was Williams favorite: "There was something that effected people beyond a movie, I met a guy who said, 'Mr. Williams, I saw Dead Poets, I worked for a major corporation, I took off my business suit, burned it & now I own an art gallery.'"

📮 Book of the Week 🥁
📚 Book Title: Ficciones
✍ Author: Jorge Luis Borges
📅 Publication Year: 1944 (expanded 1956)
🎭 Genre: Philosophical fiction, Magical realism, Metafiction
🪷 Themes: Doubleness, interpretation, infinity, reality vs. fiction, art’s creative power
📖 Book at a Glance (no spoilers):
This collection of short stories, written by one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, is a deliberate experiment in narrative form and philosophical ideas. Rather than offering definite answers, Borges poses profound questions.
His recurring symbols, mirrors and labyrinths challenge the very foundations of reality and the endless interpretations we construct around it. His prose dissolves the boundary between fiction and truth, inviting us into a literary labyrinth where every path opens onto another.
🌌 If you have never read Borges and feel intimidated by his grand reputation, I recommend Ficciones.
