At the Frontline of Global Affairs: Fellows in Action 🌎
Our IR specialists are spending their days at the heart of decision-making — in places where policies are debated, ideas collide, and the contours of international affairs take shape.
🔵 A Candid Conversation with Dmitri Trenin
A standout moment was an open-mic session with Dmitri Trenin, Academic Supervisor of the Institute of World Military Economy and Strategy at HSE University. Fellows discussed the role of the nation-state in today’s Russian foreign policy, the shifting centers of power, and how former adversaries can turn into strategic partners.
🔵 Russian International Affairs Council
Here, the young specialists delved into the intersection of research and diplomacy, observing how RIAC develops analytical materials, builds expert networks, and fosters public dialogue on global challenges.
🔵 Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology
At Skoltech, the group toured advanced labs, watched ideas evolve from concept to prototype, and met researchers at the cutting edge of engineering, data, and emerging technologies.
🔵 Russia Today
The fellows went behind the scenes to see how international news is produced and discussed the media’s role in shaping global narratives.
The academic module is complete, but the most important part is ahead: today our IR specialists are defending their projects🔚
🔥 — Wish them good luck

Have you ever wondered what keeps a metropolis where every second counts running? ☀️
But our energy specialists from ASEAN know the answer. Last week, they visited Moscow, where the group met the people who power the whole country, explored the technologies behind its critical infrastructure, and saw how bold ideas turn into real-world impact.
📍 Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy
From digital modeling to modern monitoring tools, Alexey Kulapin, REA General Director, introduced the fellows to Russia’s strategic vision for boosting efficiency, reducing losses, and building smarter regional energy systems.
📍 Russia–ASEAN Business Council & Global Energy Association
In forward-looking sessions with Daniyar Akkaziev, CEO Russia–ASEAN Business Council, and Sergey Brilev, a Russian journalist, President of the Global Energy Association, they discussed new avenues for cooperation: joint research, technology partnerships, and youth-driven energy initiatives.
📍 Transneft
Here, our fellows learned how operators manage pressure, flow, and safety across thousands of kilometers, as well as how digital systems enable real-time monitoring of critical infrastructure.
📍 ATOM Museum
Through interactive models, archival exhibits, and visual installations, the group explored the evolution of nuclear science — from early reactors to modern applications in medicine, energy, and future technologies.
After a few days in Moscow’s energy ecosystem, one thing is clear: the future of energy depends on collaboration and people who are willing to look deeper. Our ASEAN fellows have done exactly that — your turn is coming; keep an eye on the news!💬

What’s on the Minds of Tomorrow’s Global Policymakers? 📚
After six intensive weeks, our international relations fellows took the final — and most exciting — step of the program: defending the projects rooted in their academic backgrounds, field-specific interests, and the discussions they’ve had with leading experts from the MGIMO Institute for International Studies.
What issues drove their research?
❤️ Foreign Policy and Identity
❤️ Multipolarity and Global Governance
❤️ Regional Security Architectures
❤️ South–South Cooperation and Development
❤️ Information, Knowledge, and Cognitive Sovereignty
Together, these projects show how young IR specialists are rethinking the global agenda — not by repeating familiar narratives, but by challenging assumptions and proposing fresh, grounded perspectives.
Stay tuned — the new discoveries are already on the way✨

Happy Mother’s Day 🌼
At InteRussia, we often joke that our coordinators are like “temporary parents.” They cheer for you during presentations, worry when you’re late, celebrate your wins louder than anyone, and make sure the group feels like a family — no matter how far from home you are.
But none of this would be possible without them —our incredible moms .
Today, on Mother’s Day, we honor those who first taught us what care truly means. To every mom whose warmth, patience, and support shape the people who later become part of our InteRussia family — thank you.
Let’s cherish the love of our moms not just today❤️

Shaping Nuclear Tomorrow 😁
The journey of our nuclear specialists is far from over — but one major milestone is now behind them. After two intensive weeks in Moscow filled with deep-dive sessions, hands-on modeling, and the kind of “lightbulb moments” they’re ready to move forward.
So what exactly did the fellows explore?
🔺 Forging a nation’s nuclear future
🔺 Tools and models that show where low-carbon systems are headed and why nuclear matters
🔺 The real economics of clean energy
🔺 Non-electric applications for nuclear energy
🔺 The world of SMRs
A highlight of the program was the open discussions with Maria Oseeva, Head of International Nuclear Infrastructure Projects at Rosatom International Network, and Sergey Brilev, journalist and President of the Global Energy Association, where participants delved into not only the “how” of nuclear development but also the “why.”
And the fellowship is only gaining speed. Ahead is St. Petersburg, new expert panels, and the long-awaited visit tothe Leningrad NPP . Keep following — the most exciting insights are still on the way. 👍
