The US and Kazakhstan pen a memorandum of cooperation in the rare earth minerals field. The signing was led by Kazakh President Tokayev, who will meet President Trump tomorrow.

The signing follows a similar one agreed earlier this year by Washington and Astana in the nuclear field, and a major rare earth trade deal between US giant Cove Capital and the Kazakh resource-rich site of Akhbulak – Kazakh authorities had initially planned the offer to Moscow, but instead opted for a US company. Ties between the two countries have also expanded in the defense sector.
