Have you ever heard of 'sleeping sickness'? 10 years ago, residents in Kalachi village in Kazakhstan began to fall asleep on their feet. They were also tormented by hallucinations, nausea and memory loss.
People who experienced the condition described their health in different ways: 'The state is as if you are spreading over this chair. It feels like this chair has tentacles and legs are being pressed.'

These’re once well-groomed streets of the famous city and what they have turned into... The French capital’s center is buried under trash: banana skins, pizza boxes, used period products, food packages. The authorities said 7,000 tonnes of waste had to be collected and the number continues to increase.
Rubbish has piled up here since March 6, as municipal teams went on strike to protest over the Macron government’s proposals to raise the pension age. These days the situation has seriously escalated as, despite the people’s discontent, the French leader pushed the bill through. The protests are gaining momentum, and the police has to use tear gas and batons to suppress them. Meanwhile, the people - say they aren't going to give up.

American spent half his life wrongfully imprisoned for murder.
Sheldon Thomas, was only 17 when he was arrested and charged. The young man, accused of the fatal shooting of a teen on Christmas Eve in 2004 in NYC, was sentenced to 25 years to life. A photo of another person with the same name led to his wrongful arrest.
18 years later Sheldon is 35, and is finally declared a free man. ‘I’ve waited a long time for this day to happen,’ confessed Thomas in the courtroom. And his story is just one of hundreds of cases.

Vostok battalion veteran, Vladislav Shinkar lost both legs in 2015. He came under fire from the Ukrainian army in Zhabunki village near Donetsk. Four months later, Vladislav returned to the front. ‘Can’t stand? Fight on your knees. Can’t walk? Crawl!’ he says.
But after two years, Vladislav decided to leave the battalion. His story is featured in an episode of Alexandra Frank's documentary series Faces of Donbass.

Retiree, Boris Grafov goes bungee jumping every year to mark another year of life. He has ten jumps to his credit so far. He started with a jump from 69 meters. This year though, while attached to a rubber rope at Sochi Park in Russia, he stepped out from a jaw-dropping 207 meters.
Boris Grafov first became interested in this extreme sport about seven years ago. His former job, which was associated with high altitudes, had a lot to do with his choice of hobby. Boris’ dream is to break the park’s bungee jumping age record, currently held by an Israeli citizen who, at 95, jumped from 69 meters.

Sergey Khubrakov, a volunteer from the Irkutsk region, Russia, is over 60. He is a trainer in kettlebell lifting and had two combat tours to Chechnya. The man is also an experienced hunter and that's why he joined the unit as a sniper.
In one of the fights Sergey was seriously wounded. Now he’s waiting to recover so he can go back to the front. Why is he so eager to go back? Watch our clip to find out.
