FuntouchOS merging with OriginOS for Vivo and iQOO devices news is FAKE!

OriginOS is China exclusive UI developed by BBK for Vivo and iQOO and is thousand times better than FuntouchOS which BBK offers to Global Vivo and iQOO users.

A telegram group today spread the news that BBK has decided to merge FuntouchOS with OriginOS for global users. Many famous tipsters & channels claimed that the "news is real" as their "sources" also said the same and they knew about it already.

However, in reality, FuntouchOS will get only some of the features of OriginOS, a new ui overhaul and that's it. BBK may also rename FuntouchOS to hype up the upgrade for global users, similar to how Xiaomi do with HyperOS being different from MIUI.

There won't be a full merger between OriginOS & FunTouch OS.

FunTouch OS will gain Origin OS features & a UI overhaul. A name change for this OS is also on the cards.

First devices with this OS change will be the Vivo X300 series & iQOO 15 in Q4..
At the iQOO Z10 event, a senior iQOO official who was previously at Vivo was asked that :

Will Origin OS come to India or globally ?

The official told that it is China exclusive and it'll remain like that , they've :

NO Plan to bring Origin OS globally !!

Also, don't expect it to be full-blown OriginOS either. That's not what I've heard either.

Instead, it'll be a completely new revamp of FuntouchOS with 80% of all OriginOS features and the design element

Google was one of the only device makers to even release their device tree + binaries + full kernel source commit history.

They were never under any obligation to do so, but it served the purpose of making AOSP easy to build for Pixel devices, making it easy to test new features on it (which was the point - Pixels were the AOSP reference hardware). It also made developers' lives easier as they didn't have to build their own device trees from scratch.

Without these things, custom ROM support for Pixels will essentially be dropped to where it's at with other devices. But at least Pixels are still super easy to bootloader unlock and grab factory images for.
