It doesn't help that the target building was just 300 metres away from the MOD building, so a ton of locals saw smoke from the area of the MOD building.

Updated satellite imagery of Engels-2 Airbase in Saratov Oblast.
As of June 13, the following were located at the airfield:
2 Tu-95MS strategic bombers
2 Tu-160 strategic bombers
1 Tu-22M3 strategic bomber
3 Su-34 fighters.
1 of the 2 Tu-95s is stationed there for training purposes, however that can change at any time. The other Tu-95 is likely equipped with Kh-101 cruise missiles. No abnormal frequency activities are reported.
1 of the 2 Tu-160s is indefinitely stationed there for training purposes. The status of whether the second one is equipped or not is unknown.
The Tu-22M3 has been transferred to training duties and has been conducting regular training missions from the airbase, likely on a new frequency not recently used for Engels-2.
The 3 Su-34s conduct regular bombing runs on targets in Sumy, Kharkiv and northern Donetsk Oblasts. At the time this image was taken, at least 2 Su-34/35s are airborne, likely conducting bombing runs on Ukraine.
Due to the massive increase of flights of IL-76MD military transport aircraft to Engels-2 Airbase towards the end of May, there is likely still a stockpile of Kh-101 cruise missiles which will last for at least one more missile attack on Ukraine after the next one. After that we will begin seeing renewed IL-76MD flights there.
Recent patterns indicate that a missile attack is likely to occur in the coming days, but not within the next 24 hours.
However, there is an increased threat of Iskander-M ballistic missile launches from OTRK complexes near the city of Liski, Voronezh Oblast due to a new IL-76MD flight carrying Iskander missiles to Baltimore Airbase in Voronezh Oblast. Keep in mind, it is possible that these newly delivered missiles will be used for the next combined attack on Ukraine in coordination with Tu-95MS bombers, Kalibr cruise missiles launches from the Black Sea Fleet and other Iskander OTRK complexes in various regions of Russia + Crimea, but we shall see.
