Following Ukrainian counterattacks in the village of Karpivka, Lyman direction, and the elimination of the initial Russian bridgehead on the western bank of the Nitrius River, Russian aviation and artillery has begun conducting widespread strikes on Ukrainian positions.

FAB-500 glide-bombs and TOS-1 Thermobaric Rocket Launchers are regularly being used to soften up Ukraine's relatively solid defence here, however I believe it's more likely that the nearby village of Zelena Dolnya and the remaining tactical heights southeast of Karpivka will be captured before any major progress is made in Karpivka itself.

Keep in mind, the defence of the heights between Shandryholove, Karpivka and Lypove are crucial to the overall defence of the city of Lyman. A collapse here would facilitate larger advances south from the more solidified Russian positions and strongpoints closer to the Zherebets River.

I personally believe the overall goal of the initial breakout to the Nitrius River was not to spearhead an advance to the Oskil River, but rather to lay the groundworks for a larger effort to outflank the remaining Ukrainian positions east of the Zherebets River, specifically to prevent having to go through the nightmare of taking the village of Torske again.

I suggest keeping an eye on this sector, as if Ukraine can't deploy further reinforcements and form a more coherent defence, and if Russia chooses to continue pushing here to exploit these tactical successes, we may see the last part of the Zherebets front get wrapped shortly after any push southwards.
