An Israeli airstrike killed the commander of Hamas’ Shujaiyya brigade, Jamil Omar al-Wadiya, also known as Abu Omar.

For some background information, the Shujaiyya brigade is subordinated under Hamas's much larger Gaza brigade, and is headquartered in the Shujaiyya district of Gaza city. Most of their operations were concentrated in or close to the Shujaiyya district, although during the battles for Gaza City in late 2023 and early 2024, the Shujaiyya brigade would often coordinate attacks and ambushes with other brigades stationed in neighbouring districts of the city.

They also conducted joint rocket and mortar attacks on Israeli positions and command posts in and around the Netzarim corridor in coordination with non-Hamas armed groups, such as groups subordinated under the Al-Quds Brigades (the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad), the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (formerly subordinated under the Fatah political party) and the Abu Ali-Mustafa brigades (the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), among others.

Another interesting part about this brigade is that many of its fighters are/were a part of the Al-Qassam Brigades' (Armed wing of Hamas) "Nukhba" elite forces, who were the backbone of Hamas' initial invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023 and put up significant resistance during Israel's initial push into Gaza City in 2023.

Palestinian sources report that 15 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the city of Beit Lahiya, Northern Gaza.

Israeli channel 12: "The IDF is expanding its military operations in Gaza, specifically in the northern part of the Strip."

They are referring to Israel's new ground invasion.

Due to the new Israeli ground invasion of Gaza, I have decided to update my Middle East Map to show the different Hamas battalion boundaries.

These boundaries show approximately where the different battalions under Hamas' Al-Qassam brigades operate. They are split into five brigades, one for each governorate, with ~21 battalions in total.

Keep in mind, pretty much all of these battalions were degraded or destroyed at some point and have been reconstituted through new recruitment methods. This means that most of them will in no way be near full combat capability.

Israel has approved the demolition of 90 more residential buildings in the Jenin Refugee Camp, West Bank, amid a continued military operation.

In the Sumy direction, Russian forces continued their offensive to clear out the remaining Ukrainian-controlled parts of Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces made a small advance southwest of Sudzha. Following the capture of the village of Melevoi and the surrounding forested areas, Russian forces attacked north from positions near the road from Goncharovka, taking up positions in some forest plantations in the low-lying ground.

The adjacent treeline which leads to the forest plantations east of the village of Oleshnya is now in the grey-zone.

Over the past few days, Ukrainian forces have been conducting a new cross-border operation in Belgorod Oblast, and have made some small advances in Russian territory.

Ukrainian forces conducted a series of mechanised assaults where they crossed the international border and landed infantry. Most of the vehicles used were destroyed by Russian FPV drones. However, some Ukrainian soldiers who dismounted managed to capture treelines on the tactical heights that were previously in the grey-zone.

Now they are attempting to push further north with the goal of gaining a foothold on the outskirts of the village of Demidovka, however Russian soldiers are already engaged with battles with Ukrainian soldiers in the treelines, although it doesn't appear that counterattacks have begun yet.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces have crossed the Oskil River in another area, establishing control over new positions on its western bank.

Russian forces advanced from positions in the forests on the eastern bank of the Oskil River, and by using pontoon bridges, they were able to cross the river and capture positions in the forests on the western bank. They continued to push uphill and expanded their zone of control to include further areas of the forests, including some areas at the top of the tactical heights.

In the Kostyantynivka direction, Russian forces continued their assault operations and have made progress in Toretsk, as well as beyond the city limits.

Russian forces advanced from positions in the northern part of the city, advancing through the open fields, and taking up positions near the Dylivka water treatment facility.

Additionally, Russian forces advanced from their positions in the southern part of the Toretska mines, capturing the rest of it. They also took up some new positions in the private sector of the neighbouring village of Krymske.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces continued their assault operations in the town of Shevchenko and are recapturing a series of previously lost positions.

After eliminating the Ukrainian assault groups that broke through to the southern outskirts, Russian forces began moving north through the town centre, recapturing positions in the surrounding residential areas. The frontline was also corrected in favour of Russia in the treelines to the west of Shevchenko.

Ukrainian forces are now clinging to the northern houses and are bringing in new forces to try to hold their remaining positions, and potentially to counterattack in the near future.

Israeli forces have launched a “limited” ground invasion of the northern Gaza Strip, with IDF troops operating near the city of Beit Lahiya.

This comes as Israeli forces begin to reoccupy the Netzarim corridor.

5 explosions were reported in the Damascus governorate of Syria. Israeli jets were airborne over Syria at the time.

The commander of Hamas' east Khan Younis battalion of the Khan Younis brigade Osama Tabash was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The east Khan Younis battalion largely operates in the area highlighted in yellow.
