James Alan Hetfield (born August 3, 1963) is an American musician and songwriter, best known as the co-founder, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and primary songwriter for heavy metal band Metallica. He is mainly known for his intricate rhythm playing, but occasionally performs lead guitar duties and solos, both live and in the studio. Hetfield co-founded Metallica in October 1981 after answering an advertisement by drummer Lars Ulrich in the Los Angeles newspaper The Recycler. Metallica has won nine Grammy Awards and released ten studio albums, three live albums, four extended plays and 24 singles.

In 2009, Hetfield was ranked at No. 8 in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists and No. 24 by Hit Parader on their list of the 100 Greatest Metal Vocalists of All Time. In Guitar World's poll,Hetfield was placed as the 19th greatest guitarist of all time

In 1930, the Indiana Bell building was rotated 90 degrees. Over a month, the 22-million-pound structure was moved 15 inch/hr, while 600 employees still worked there with no interruption to gas, heat, electricity, water, sewage, or the telephone service they provided. This ingenious rotation plan was conceived & executed by the famous architect Kurt Vonnegut Sr.

The work was done with such precision that the building continued to operate during the entire duration of the move. A movable wooden sidewalk allowed employees and the public to enter and leave the building at any time while the move was in progress. The company did not lose a single day of work nor interrupt their service during the entire period.

Incredibly most of the power needed to move the building was provided by hand-operated jacks while a steam engine also offered some support. Each time the jacks were pumped, the house moved 3/8th of an inch.
The building stood for 33 years at its new location.
