Ocean heatwaves are at an all-time high, with devastating impacts on marine ecosystems and communities.
Short-term changes in regional atmospheric and ocean circulation patterns can provide the conditions for periods of intense heat in the sea lasting for weeks, months or even years.
But long-term increases in ocean temperature driven by an increase in greenhouse gas emissions are a key factor in recent heatwaves. About 90% of excess heat generated by anthropogenic climate change has been stored in the ocean, and the past two decades have seen an increase in the rate of heat accumulating in the Earth's climate system.#saveouroceans #climatechange

The vaquita is the most endangered cetacean in the world. With as few as around 10 left, the species will become extinct without a fully enforced gillnet ban throughout their entire habitat. We all need to ensure they can live and thrive in their natural habitat.
Unsustainable and illegal fishing practices are the main drivers pushing vaquita to extinction, particularly due to bycatch from illegal fishing.

Ocean trash, especially plastic, is a massive problem we can solve together. Let's wake up to our plastic consumption's impact on marine life.

Around 6 BILLION tonnes of sand is dredged from the world's ocean every year and it is suffering from some of the greatest intensity of extraction.

We urgently need to curb this highly destructive practice out of our Marine Protected Areas.

Offshore drilling is polluting our air & our oceans as well as accelerating the climate crisis. It is crucial that we end new leasing for dirty and dangerous offshore oil drilling! It’s time to take bold ocean climate action #saveouroceans

Every year, a staggering 430M metric tonnes of plastics are produced,of which over 2/3 immediately becomes waste which eventually enters our oceans and poses threats to marine life.

Water refill map upgrade

We are thrilled to commence a major upgrade to our free drinking water refill maps. We're committed to making it easier for everyone to access clean, free drinking water, and this expansion is a significant step towards that goal.

In this latest initiative, we're adding over 3,000 new locations to our refill network. This means more opportunities for people to stay hydrated on the go without resorting to single-use plastic bottles. It's our way of contributing to a more sustainable future and reducing plastic waste.

We believe that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right, and by expanding our network, we're making it even more convenient for people to stay refreshed while also being environmentally responsible.

Lazy persons guide to saving the ocean
1. Reduce Plastic: One of the laziest but most effective ways is to reduce your plastic usage. Avoid single-use plastics like straws and disposable cutlery. Use a reusable water bottle and shopping bags.

2. Support Ocean Conservation Organizations: Consider donating to or supporting organizations that work to protect the oceans. You can do this with a few clicks online.

3. Spread Awareness: Use your social media platforms to share information about ocean conservation issues. You can raise awareness without leaving your couch.

4. Participate in Beach Cleanups: If you’re feeling a bit more active but still want an easy way to help, join a local beach cleanup event. It’s a great way to make a tangible difference.
