Around 6 BILLION tonnes of sand is dredged from the world's ocean every year and it is suffering from some of the greatest intensity of extraction.

We urgently need to curb this highly destructive practice out of our Marine Protected Areas.

Every year, a staggering 430M metric tonnes of plastics are produced,of which over 2/3 immediately becomes waste which eventually enters our oceans and poses threats to marine life.
⚠️ Without urgent action to #BeatPlasticPollution, this figure could triple by 2060.

Water refill map upgrade

We are thrilled to commence a major upgrade to our free drinking water refill maps. We're committed to making it easier for everyone to access clean, free drinking water, and this expansion is a significant step towards that goal.

In this latest initiative, we're adding over 3,000 new locations to our refill network. This means more opportunities for people to stay hydrated on the go without resorting to single-use plastic bottles. It's our way of contributing to a more sustainable future and reducing plastic waste.

We believe that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right, and by expanding our network, we're making it even more convenient for people to stay refreshed while also being environmentally responsible.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with Asenix.
Lazy persons guide to saving the ocean
1. Reduce Plastic: One of the laziest but most effective ways is to reduce your plastic usage. Avoid single-use plastics like straws and disposable cutlery. Use a reusable water bottle and shopping bags.

2. Support Ocean Conservation Organizations: Consider donating to or supporting organizations that work to protect the oceans. You can do this with a few clicks online.

3. Spread Awareness: Use your social media platforms to share information about ocean conservation issues. You can raise awareness without leaving your couch.

4. Participate in Beach Cleanups: If you’re feeling a bit more active but still want an easy way to help, join a local beach cleanup event. It’s a great way to make a tangible difference.

5. Dispose of Trash: Dispose of trash and recyclables in designated bins, and participate in beach cleanups to prevent litter from reaching the ocean.

Remember, every small action counts, and even “lazy” efforts can contribute to ocean conservation.

Giant seaweed forests, also known as kelp, were once abundant in our oceans.
Kelp is a vital marine ecosystem providing homes for marine life and protecting our shores from the damaging effects of storms. Lets adopt more sustainable patterns in order to safeguard our oceans.

To effectively achieve #30x30, we must protect our inland waters too. Lakes, rivers, wetlands, and streams are home to thousands of species but are some of the most degraded ecosystems in the world.

Overfishing in the ocean can have several negative effects, including:

1. Depletion of Fish Stocks

2.Unintended Bycatch:The use of certain fishing methods can result in the capture of non-target species, known as bycatch, which often includes endangered or protected species.

3. Habitat Destruction: Some fishing practices, like bottom trawling, can damage sensitive seabed habitats, such as coral reefs and seamounts, impacting marine biodiversity.

4.Food Security: Overfishing threatens the availability of fish as a food source for billions of people, especially in developing countries where seafood is a primary protein source.

5.Ecosystem Imbalance: Fish play crucial roles in marine food webs. Their depletion can disrupt the balance of marine ecosystems, affecting predator-prey relationships and overall ecosystem.

Addressing overfishing through sustainable practices and conservation measures is essential to mitigate these negative effects and ensure the long-term health of our oceans.#saveourocean #Asenix
Ghost gear fishing refers to the problem of abandoned or lost fishing gear, such as nets and traps, that continues to catch and harm marine life. Solving this issue requires coordinated efforts from governments, organizations, and individuals. Lets adopt better Sustainable practices. #ASENIX #marinelife #BeatPlasticPollution

📣 WATER REFILL MAP V.2.0 📣

We are glad to announce Version 2.0 of our free drinking water refill map, with over 3,000 additional taps and locations, resulting in a total of approximately 15,000 refill points. This update is aimed at reducing single-use plastic bottle consumption by making it more convenient for community members to access clean and sustainable hydration sources. We encourage everyone to use the updated map to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

Over 90% of the heat trapped by greenhouse gases has gone into our oceans. So it's no surprise marine heat waves are getting much more intense and more frequent. Warmer oceans are leading to die-offs. We need to do better you reduce the effects of climate change. #saveouroceans #climateaction
