The #US says it is simply protecting itself by launching attacks on #Somali soil

As recently reported, the United States revealed that a primary rationale for such attacks is self-defense.

The #United_States noted that it intends to reduce the odds of a terrorist attack on its home soil, and thus its aggression towards countries like #Somalia.

In an exclusive with Fox News Digital, U.S. Army Lt. Gen. John Brennan, the second-highest-ranking officer at U.S. Africa Command, disclosed that the terrorists are mainly affiliated with Islamic State (#ISIS) or al Qaeda.

"There's ISIS-inspired threats. They plot against the United States homeland as well as #Europe. So that's kind of the nexus of the threat," he said during the interview.

He also revealed that attacks could be internal.

News: #Ethiopian bondholders plan legal action as dispute over $1bn debt restructuring deepens

A group of investors holding Ethiopia’s sole international bond has announced plans to pursue legal action after the country’s bilateral creditors rejected an initial agreement on restructuring the $1 billion debt, according to a report by Reuters.

The ad hoc bondholder committee said on Monday that it would take the matter to court after Ethiopia’s Official Creditors Committee (#OCC), co-chaired by China and France, blocked a draft restructuring deal, arguing that it failed to comply with the #G20’s “Comparability of Treatment” principle.

Under the G20 Common Framework for debt treatment, the principle requires that commercial creditors accept losses comparable to those agreed by official bilateral creditors.

“The Committee considers the determination, led by the OCC’s co-chairs #France and #China, to be completely unreasonable,” the bondholder group said in....

#Ethiopia: MP Abebaw challenges peace talks with splinter armed groups

Member of Parliament Dr. Abebaw Desalew of the National Movement of Amhara (#NaMA) has questioned Prime Minister #Abiy Ahmed over the federal government’s approach to peace negotiations and regional security, warning that talks with what he described as “splinter groups” have failed to bring tangible improvements on the ground.

Dr. Abebaw raised the concerns during the 10th Regular Session of the 5th Year of the 6th Term of the House of Peoples’ Representatives (#HoPR), where MPs questioned the Prime Minister on the government’s six-month performance report.

He said Ethiopia continues to face a pervasive lack of peace, particularly in conflict-affected regions including #Amhara, #Oromia, #Tigray, and #Gambella, while noting that serious human rights violations are also reported in regions without active armed conflict.

“Even in areas not experiencing open conflict, members from the...

The Prime Minister made the remarks while responding to questions during a regular session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives (#HoPR) on Tuesday, marking the first time he has directly addressed, in a parliamentary setting, recent rhetoric alleging foreign financing of the dam.

GERD is a historic national project realized entirely through the sacrifice, determination, and contributions of the Ethiopian people, Abiy told lawmakers, emphasizing that both citizens at home and members of the diaspora financed the project ....

News: #PM_Abiy traces rift with #Eritrea to atrocities in #Tigray, not Red Sea access

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) told the House of Peoples’ Representatives (#HoPR) that the deterioration in relations between #Ethiopia and Eritrea began during the early phases of the two-year devastating war in the Tigray region, citing atrocities committed by Eritrean forces, and not Ethiopia’s push for access to the #Red_Sea.

Addressing lawmakers today, the Prime Minister rejected analyses that link the current rift to Ethiopia’s maritime ambitions. “Some people argue, think, and analyze that the problem between the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments arose because the Ethiopian government raised the Red Sea question. This is not the case,” Abiy said. He added that tensions long predated the sea access debate and “began during the start of the Tigray war.”

It is recalled that in October 2025, PM Abiy linked the deterioration in relations with Asmara to developments....

The Prime Minister made the remarks during the 10th regular session of the 6th House of Peoples’ Representatives (#HoPR), while responding to lawmakers’ questions on the situation of displaced communities across the country.

Abiy said the federal government’s primary difficulty lies in Western Tigray, where, according to him, certain actors have obstructed return processes by “sowing seeds of exile and displacement” and using displaced populations as political leverage.

#US says peace plan for #Sudan to be revealed this week

The US has readied the text of a peace plan for Sudan's nearly three-year-old civil war that it says has the approval of the members of the "Quad", senior advisor to the US president on Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, revealed on Tuesday.

The Quad for Sudan is made up of the US Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt.

The group had initially unveiled a coordinated roadmap back in September aimed at ending the fighting between the Sudanese army and the breakaway paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

"We've been working on this comprehensive peace plan for at least three months now that should be acceptable to both sides," Boulos said at a fundraiser held to gather pledges for immediate humanitarian aid for Sudan.

He added that he has heard "promising remarks" from Sudan's military chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and that the US has been....

News: #Egypt-based military drones have targeted #Sudan’s RSF for months, report says

A covert military airstrip in Egypt’s Western Desert has emerged as a key launch site for drone strikes inside Sudan, signaling Egypt’s direct entry into Sudan’s devastating civil war, according to an extensive investigation by The New York Times.

The report, based on satellite imagery, flight records, video analysis, and interviews with #American, #European, and #Arab officials, found that advanced military drones operating from Egypt have been conducting strikes against Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) for at least 6 months.

The airstrip, located near the East Oweinat agricultural project close to the Sudanese border, is hidden amid vast wheat fields irrigated by fossil aquifers.

While the base appears civilian on the surface, satellite images reviewed by the newspaper show the construction of a second runway, at least 17 aircraft hangars, satellite communications....
