Many people talk of those who fail the path and end up as demons. But few mention the possibility of failing the path by "becoming a god".
The gods are tempters just as much as demons are.

Just a few thoughts for today.
According to Jane Leade, the alchemical process begins once the “Fire-Seed” (the ember of God within us that never burns out) has been fanned and ignited. The goal is to nurture and transform the "Salt-Stone” (the divine essence within us that is dormant) into something pure and valuable. The "Fire-Stone” (the divine love of Christ) purifies and brightens the soul in response to our fasting, prayer, and invocation. However, one must avoid distractions and temptations (Ravenous Birds) because these can interfere with the process before the fruits of spiritual work (Golden Apples) have matured and ripened. We encounter numerous challenges (Gates) as we ascend the “Love-Chain” (the hierarchy of divine spirits), which culminates in our reunification with the divine (“marriage to thy Beloved"). Universal love and compassion (love thy neighbor as thyself) is the guiding force that breaks down barriers on the path to divine union.
