"A decision of the Council of Ten (December 17, 1488) severely prohibits the practice of alchemy. The measure is mainly aimed at counterfeiters of gold, as well as the bull Spondent Pariter (1317), issued by Pope John XXII. Traditional alchemy remains the true object of knowledge: the same Pope is attributed to the treatise Ars Trasmutatoria, published posthumously (1557).

It is confirmed that there was a secret society of alchemists in Venice, called Voarchadumia, active between 1450 and 1490. A society with international branches. Among its illustrious members is Sir George Ripley, a British canon. In 1530 (1478 according to other sources), in Venice, Johannes Augustinus Pantheus, a Venetian priest, publishes a voluminous treatise with the same name, Voarchadumia, the gold of the two reds or perfect cementification, dedicated to Doge Andrea Gritti. Pantheus also dedicates a previous work, The Perfect Transmutation Art, to his Polish friend Hyerosky, a great connoisseur of alchemical texts. Pantheus' works syncretize, for the first time in an organic way, Kabbalah and Alchemy."
