So the idea behind this is Husserl was actually a trained logician. Which gives him a very "analytical" feel for a continental philosopher.
Basically, you know how Russell aimed to perfect Logic then Wittgenstein "um ackchsually'd" him into the shadow realm?
Well Husserl had a similar project but his questioning went down a road similar to Wittgenstein. You know that joke where all biology is applied chemistry, which is applied physics, which is applied math. well Math has its foundations in Pure Logic. Husserl basically asked himself a question, something like "what are the actual structures that the laws of Logic rely on?"
The problem with this question is; you hit the ground of Metaphysics and have to "start from scratch" so to speak. Do what Descartes did, but even more extreme.
Basically create a "science" or system that studies the "Consciousness itself, with itself".
This Project is called "Phenomenology" and involves observing phenomena any phenomena. Can be in a dream, or during a Hallucination, or a mundane experience on a normal day.
By observing and "suspending our natural reaction" we can view phenomena as it is. Or more precisely gain knowledge of our own Qualia through a kind of Meta-cognition.
You are trying to make out if there really are "structures" in your Consciousness which the Laws of Logic arise from. (Although this original aim has fallen to the wayside since Husserl's time).
The exercises and practices of Phenomenology are of interest to Occultists because it's as if Husserl smuggled a lil bit of Esoterica into the academy.
Phenomenology acts as its own form of epistemology. Therefore, it bypasses materialistic science and its burden of "proof" by starting all over again but from the consciousness outward.

What phenomenology is about, or what I can personally take from it is that phenomena are the "primary movers". "causes" are always post-mortems and whatever happened is the expression of reality. Apparently this is how the Etruscan religion saw reality(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etruscan_religion):
Long after the assimilation of the Etruscans, Seneca the Younger said[14] that the difference between the Romans and the Etruscans was that

Whereas we believe lightning to be released as a result of the collision of clouds, they believe that the clouds collide so as to release lightning: for as they attribute all to deity, they are led to believe not that things have a meaning insofar as they occur, but rather that they occur because they must have a meaning.
