PROTECT THE ALLIANCE OF SAHEL STATES!

Protect and defend the Alliance of Sahel States! That is the rallying cry of pan-Africanists everywhere, especially now that Burkina Faso’s authorities have just foiled a sixth reported conspiracy against President Ibrahim Traoré, who was also slandered recently by General Michael Langley of US Africa Command (AFRICOM). Malian officials are currently under economic sanctions by the US State Department, and Niger is sanctioned by the European Union, clear signs that Western powers are determined to crush any African nation that dares to stand up to them.

The three founding members of the AES confederation have taken enormous strides towards sovereignty and self-determination, cutting ties with France and other Western powers and nationalising or demanding greater control over their resources.

BARBADIANS DEFEND BURKINA FASO IN PAN-AFRICAN SOLIDARITY

US Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Michael Langley’s slanderous 3 April, 2025 testimony at the US Senate Armed Services Committee against fellow African and Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré, accusing him of 'using Burkina’s resources for personal gain', has only strengthened African solidarity worldwide.

Africans today are wide awake. Gone are the days when the enemies of liberation thrived on our ignorance and division to overthrow and assassinate progressive leaders like the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Patrice Lumumba (1925-61) or Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi (1942-2011).

FREE UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN NAMIBIA FROM 2026

Namibia just made history. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced free higher education for all starting 2026. No tuition, no registration fees, even technical training is covered. While students in the US are reportedly drowning in $1.6 trillion of debt, Namibia - led by the spirit of youth activism - is choosing a different future.

This victory didn’t come overnight. It’s thanks to tireless student movements like NANSO (Namibia National Students Organisation), founded in 1984 in the fight against apartheid and colonial domination of education.

Continued……Namibia now joins countries like Cuba, Morocco and Brazil in proving that free education is possible and that decolonising education is a real, living struggle.

Arsenal fans are urging the club to rethink its partnership with Visit Rwanda, calling on the board to "put financial gains aside." According to the Gunners for Peace group, recent polls of Arsenal fans have shown that six in 10 support ending the collaboration deal. Campaigners have also drawn attention to the fact that Arsenal fans in Congo and the UK are removing the Visit Rwanda part of their Arsenal shirts given such partnerships risk whitewashing the actions of Rwanda which is implicated in the mayhem

Rwanda's partnerships with Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain (PSG) have come under intense pressure, with growing calls for the football clubs to terminate their deals with Rwanda, which is accused of directly supporting the M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo's foreign-backed resource-conflict.

In early February, Congo's foreign minister urged Arsenal, Bayern and PSG to end their "blood-stained" partnerships with Visit Rwanda after the M23 rebel group captured Goma, eastern Congo's largest city and home to gold, coltan and tin mines. Thérèse Wagner wrote to the clubs, asking their presidents to question the morality of the deals funded by "blood minerals" illicitly extracted from Congo. In the letter, she mentioned a UN report revealing that up to 4,000 Rwandan troops were in Congo.

Visit Rwanda began its partnership with Arsenal in 2018 in a deal reported to be worth more than £10 million. Despite an online petition of 75,000 signatures calling for PSG to terminate its agreement with Rwanda, the club announced 16 April that it had renewed it - to run until 2028.

The ongoing resource conflict in the DRC has persisted for three decades, involving over 120 armed groups, some supported by foreign powers. The toll has been devastating, with approximately 6-million Congolese lives lost, more than 7-million people displaced, and countless women and girls enduring the horrors of sexual violence.

DR. ARIKANA: WE MUST SUPPORT BURKINA FASO, MALI & NIGER

Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger aren’t just reshaping West Africa but threatening the very foundations of Western dominance.

Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao (@hedrarikana on IG / @ADDIMovement on X), a former African Union Permanent Representative to the United States, made fiery remarks on 31 October 2024 at the University of Cape Town about the African revolution underway.

Chihombori-Quao celebrated the growing movement against imperialism, starting with a 2020 people-backed coup d’état in Mali, the first African country to expel French military forces in recent years. This revolution spread like wildfire to Burkina Faso and Niger, where people-backed coups in 2022 and 2023 also severed military ties with France. On 6 July 2024, the three states formed a confederation, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). It shares a foreign policy, military force, plans for economic integration and the goal of forming a unified Pan-African federal state free from Western manipulation.

The AES is also developing a currency to end reliance on France’s CFA franc.

The 14 French-speaking countries in Africa that use the CFA franc were required to place 50 per cent of their reserves in the French treasury in Paris, a neocolonial arrangement only partially loosened in 2019. However, France has de facto veto power at the two central banks that manage the respective CFA franc currencies for West Africa and Central Africa, and the currency is tied to the Euro at a rate historically determined by France. These factors grant France cheap access to raw materials from Africa while maintaining an overseas market for finished French goods.

The AES can be described as a ‘liberated zone,’ a term coined by Ghana’s first leader, Kwame Nkrumah (1909-72), to mean where ‘genuine independence was secured through [...] a positive action movement representing the majority of the population under the leadership of an anti-imperialist and well-organised mass party [and] a puppet regime was overthrown by a people’s movement...’ and a social revolution is underway.

UN: BLACKWATER FOUNDER TRIED TO MOVE INTO DRC

Erik Prince is a US businessman and former US Navy SEAL (special operations personnel) best known for founding private military contractor Blackwater in 1997. The global public first came to know Blackwater for k*lling 17 Iraqi civilians in 2007 during the US war on Iraq. In 2014, a US court found four Blackwater contractors guilty.

However, Prince’s history with so-called ‘private security’ didn’t end there.

The UN has accused Prince of violations across Africa, including in Somalia and Libya. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), he reportedly struck a security deal with the finance ministry before the M23’s January 2025 offensive that seized swathes of land in eastern DRC. Reuters reported the agreement is for ‘improving tax collection and reducing cross-border smuggling of minerals,’ though it is unclear how Prince would provide security.

Continued…….. In Ecuador, he has interfered in the country’s politics, backing President Daniel Noboa against leftist candidate Luisa Gonzalez, who opposes foreign forces in the country. Noboa, in comparison, announced a ‘strategic alliance’ with Prince to ‘fight organised crime.’

While Prince sheds crocodile tears over the seeming dysfunction worldwide that necessitates imperial intervention, he conveniently fails to mention the key role the US plays in destabilising countries. The US has stymied progress for the world’s first Black republic, Haiti. Plus, it helped overthrow the DRC’s first prime minister, Patrice Lumumba (1925-61), halting his progressive vision for the country. Let’s not forget about the US-led NATO invasion of Libya that led to ‘rebels’ overthrowing and murdering Muammar Gaddafi (1942-2011), all of which led to Africa’s once most prosperous country, Libya, fracturing amidst a civil war and the emergence of slave markets that have tortured and sold our people.

WHY THE WEST WANTS TRAORÉ GONE

Burkina Faso’s revolutionary leader Ibrahim Traoré is galvanising African unity, a deeply troublesome development for imperialists, according to Niko House, founder of the independent media outlet MCSC Network.

Niko was speaking on the Mother of All Talk Shows (@MOATSTV on X), a podcast hosted by George Galloway, a former UK parliamentarian and broadcaster. He argues that Traoré is being targeted for his profound impact on Africans - awakening them to the need for unity in standing up to powerful Western blocs like NATO.

Continued……Galloway provides examples of revolutionary African leaders - such as Burkina Faso’s Thomas Sankara and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Patrice Lumumba - who were eliminated with the support of imperialist forces.

NIH'S NEW POLICY: PRO-ISRAEL & ANTI-DEI

The US is now using health-research funding as leverage to force institutions to pick between academic progress and defending human rights. On 21 April, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued a policy introducing conditions for grants under the guise of ‘civil rights.’

The policy bars funding to grant seekers that implement Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) practices or have cut ties with Israel through boycotts. The agency refers to DEIA as a ‘discriminatory ideology.’ While it doesn’t mention the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement that started in 2005 against Israel’s almost 77-year occupation of Palestine, the policy says participation in ‘discriminatory prohibited boycotts’ would be grounds for denying funding. The policy also states that funding recipients who fail to comply would lose access to grants, entitling the NIH to recover funds.

Continued……. On 14 April, Harvard University rejected similar conditions by the Trump administration, leading to a federal funding freeze of over $2 billion. The institution has now sued the administration over actions it says are unlawful.

The Trump administration has heavily clamped down on dissent toward Israel's onslaught in Gaza that began on 7 October 2023 and on DEIA initiatives, calling them discriminatory when they were instituted to tackle discrimination in the first place. In her groundbreaking 2002 experiment, Devah Pager (1971-2018), a former Harvard professor of sociology, found that convicted white job seekers fared slightly better than Black people with no criminal record. Another study by Marianne Bertrand and Sendhil Mullainathan, in the same year, found that job applicants with white-sounding names are 50 per cent more likely to get callbacks.

Moreover, a 2017 meta-analysis of dozens of hiring discrimination studies by Pager and other researchers found that hiring discrimination against Black people in America had not significantly declined in over 25 years.

MALEMA: WE ARE ALL TRAORÉ!

‘We are all Ibrahim Traoré’ - that’s the powerful message of solidarity with Burkina Faso’s revolutionary president sent out by Julius Malema, the leader of South Africa’s pan-Africanist Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. It comes after Ouagadougou revealed it had thwarted another coup plot and the recent slander thrown at Traoré in the US Senate. Malema also denounced Washington’s efforts to destabilise Burkina Faso by insinuating its leadership was using gold reserves to pay for its own security.

Traoré - together with Asimi Goïta of Mali and Abdourahmane Tchiani of Niger - is spearheading a push for African sovereignty and unity. The trio have expelled French and US troops and are strengthening their political, economic, military and security ties through the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Their actions have angered imperialist forces that aim to disrupt African unity and progress for their own gain.

Continued…….. In his speech, Malema also gave an honourable mention to China, highlighting Beijing's resistance to US tariffs as a model for other nations. China overtook the US in 2009 to become Africa’s biggest trading partner for the next 15 consecutive years, with over $295 billion traded in 2024.

Malema’s call for solidarity with the Sahel states comes amid significant global shifts, as imperialist powers seek to undermine the struggles of oppressed peoples, particularly in Africa. The momentum is shifting in our favour, and as Victor Hugo said, “No force on earth can stop an idea whose time has come”

GALLOWAY HAILS AFRICAN STREAM

Who stands to gain from the rise of terrorism in Africa, and who funds the radical factions wreaking havoc across the continent?

In this recent clip, British politician and commentator George Galloway praised African Stream for providing crucial perspectives that Western media deliberately suppress. Ahmed Kaballo, African Stream’s founder and CEO, recently laid out how so-called ‘global war on t*rror’ narratives mask deeper imperial agendas in an insightful video report noscriptd, ‘How the West Supports Islamist Extremist Groups.’

In this clip, Galloway pointed to the deliberate failure of Western media to comprehensively cover Ukraine’s backing of separatist rebels in northern Mali, who attacked a group of Malian soldiers and their Russian Wagner Group allies in 2024. The Battle of Tinzaouaten k*lled 47 Malian soldiers and 84 Wagner fighters. 

Continued….. The surge in t*rrorism and the increasing US military presence in Africa have only worsened instability. A January 2024 report by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, a research body linked to the Pentagon, revealed that t*rrorism in Africa has skyrocketed by an astonishing 100,000 per cent since the onset of the US-led ‘War on Terror.’

In 2002-03, only nine t*rror incidents occurred, resulting in 23 deaths. However, two decades later, the situation had exponentially worsened, with fatalities exceeding 20,000, as noted by Responsible Statecraft, an online publication by the US-based think tank Quincy Institute.

Is it merely a coincidence that the rise in violent extremism in Africa coincided with an increased US military footprint on the continent?

It’s worth remembering while we’ve garnered respect from Galloway, we’ve also caught the eye of imperialists like former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who accused us in September 2024 of spreading Kremlin propaganda, resulting in social media companies deplatforming us.
