Israel's military campaign on refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, dubbed 'Operation Iron Wall', is applying tactics similar to those used to devastate Gaza, according to a 25 April report by University of London-based research group Forensic Architecture (@ForensicArchi on X) .
The operation launched on 21 January, and the UN has described it as the ‘most destructive’ in the West Bank since the Second Intifada, a 2000-05 Palestinian uprising against Israel’s occupation since 1948. By 10 February, the operation had displaced approximately 40,000 refugees out of a total of 75,000, according to the UN. Israeli forces have targeted refugee camps in Jenin, Far'a, Nur Shams and Tulkarem, using evacuation orders, attacks on medical infrastructure, systematic demolitions and other infrastructure destruction to establish a ‘network of military routes’ wide enough to allow unrestricted movement of armoured vehicles.

Continued…….. This ‘spatial control’ approach resembles the military strategy employed in Gaza, where Israel’s bombardments and escalated siege had destroyed urban centres and k*lled at least 186,000 people by July 2024, according to the Lancet medical journal. Israeli ministers have stated that they plan to use the strategy that destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure to destroy the West Bank, forcing the further displacement of Palestinians.
Many refugees are descendants of Palestinians forced from their homes during the 1948 Nakba that established the state of Israel with the support of Western powers. Forensic Architecture argues that Israel uses military orders as tools of coercion, as once residents leave an area, the Israeli military reshapes it into a ‘kill zone,’ preventing people from returning.
The report says Israel has also surrounded hospitals in Jenin, blocking ambulance access and converting a health centre into a detention site. More than 200 documented cases show Israel’s military destroying civilian property, including olive trees, greenhouses and food carts. The report adds these acts represent a coordinated effort to dismantle the ‘urban fabric’ of West Bank refugee camps.

TRUMP HAS ALWAYS BEEN R*CIST
The disastrous meeting at the White House between South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and US President Donald Trump exposed Trump’s longstanding r*cism.
On 21 May, he used claims about a ‘white g*nocide’ despite no evidence and a South African court recently dismissing it as ‘not real’ and ‘clearly imagined.’
Here's a look at several more r*cist moments, from being sued by the US government for refusing to rent to Black people to numerous disparaging remarks about Black and Native American communities.

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA: 'K*LL THE BOER' IS A STRUGGLE SONG!
In this 27 May video clip from the sidelines of the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) conference in Cape Town, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the United States cannot dictate to South Africa to arrest opposition leader Julius Malema for singing 'K*ll the Boer' because it is a struggle song.
His remarks came just days after returning from the White House, where US President Donald Trump accused South Africa's government of allowing 'white g*nocide.'

Continued……. White supremacist organisations like AfriForum have denounced the anti-apartheid song, 'K*ll the Boer,' alleging that it incites racial violence against white settlers, especially Boers, descendants of Dutch colonisers.
In March 2025, South Africa's Constitutional Court upheld the Equality Court's 2022 decision that the song did not constitute hate speech. Addressing the court during the 2022 case AfriForum had lodged against Malema and his party, the opposition politician stated that African culture includes singing songs that people understand not to take literally.
However, Ramaphosa's firm stance in this clip contradicts his more timid and jovial demeanour during his meeting with Trump on 21 May. Many South Africans believed that the president had failed to defend national policy adequately during that exchange.
Days after the White House meeting, Malema said that Trump insisting South Africa arrest him implies Trump wants Malema dead.
'K*ll the Boer' originated during South Africa's liberation struggle, sung in the streets to rally the people during the 1980s and 1990s. While apartheid ended in the early 1990s, its legacy lingers, with South Africa being the most unequal country, according to the World Bank.
Earlier this year, Trump ended aid to South Africa, citing its supposedly 'discriminatory' land expropriation law that seeks to address the racial disparities in land ownership.

Just a ‘lovely family man.’ That’s how the British newspaper, the Daily Mirror (@dailymirror on X), described Paul Doyle, the white Brit who rammed his vehicle into a crowd on 26 May during the Liverpool Football Club's parade for winning the Premier League noscript, injuring at least 109 people, including four children.
Would the headline have been the same if the 'lovely family man' had been a Black or Brown person? As Zimbabweans say to unlikely possibilities, when donkeys grow horns!
The Mirror is not the only British media outlet that has been working hard to humanise Doyle. Many other outlets, including the BBC, have made it their mission to remind their audience that Doyle is a 'father of three.'

Such biases are not by chance but another example of how white supremacy is prevalent in Western media newsrooms, providing immunity to white people with the presumption of innocence. For years, Western-media newsrooms have reserved the label of ‘t*rrorist’ for Black and Brown people, especially those of the Muslim faith. We can also see this bias in how the Western media report on school shooters in the United States. News outlets often frame white shooters as victims of mental illnesses, while they label Black or Brown shooters as criminals or t*rrorists.
A 2018 study by University of Ohio sociologists revealed that white shooters were 95 per cent more likely to be portrayed as 'mentally ill' than Black shooters.

‘AFRICANS DID NOT HAVE MONEY’ | WE REACT
A necessary ingredient for subjugating a people is conquering the mind. For Africa, this has entailed five centuries of erasing African cultures and achievements, a clean slate on which to impart an imperialist narrative.
Take this GB News panel whining about how no one mentions the good side of colonialism, citing Africans’ supposed lack of money and creativity. Historical evidence suggests otherwise. From the wealth of Mansa Musa’s Mali Empire to the Egyptian influences on Greece, Africa has a rich tapestry from which Europe has long drawn to build its societies.

UNDERSTANDING THE POLITICS BEHIND ‘K*LL THE BOER’
In this video, content creator @rathbone argues anti-apartheid song ‘K*ll the Boer’ is akin to a fictional song called, ‘K*ll the Nazis.’ Rather than taking the latter to mean k*lling all Germans, many people would understand the song calls out an oppressive system or ideology.
In South Africa, ‘K*ll the Boer’ rallied Black people in the 1980s and 1990s against the apartheid regime. However, white supremacists have forced it back into the spotlight despite the Equality Court and the Constitutional Court ruling in recent years that it is not hate speech.

Continued…..,, Boers are white settlers of Dutch descent who took over parts of southern Africa in the 17th century and ruled South Africa during the white-led apartheid regime (1948-1994). For the Black majority, who are economically and socially disenfranchised, the song represents a symbolic resistance to apartheid-era oppression and its lingering inequities. The apartheid regime forcibly relocated the majority Black African population from their homes and subjected them to state violence. More than three decades after apartheid, the white-settler minority still owns 72 per cent of private farmland and dominates the economy.
As Julius Malema (@julius.malema.sello on IG and @julius_s_malema on X), president of Economic Freedom Fighters (@effsouthafrica), told a court in 2022, Africans don’t take commands from songs. For many Black people whose ancestors took care of white settlers’ children due to the lack of opportunities under apartheid, the chant does not incite violence but calls for ending inequities.

ELECTRICAL VEHICLES ASSEMBLED IN BURKINA FASO
In January 2025, a Burkinabé citizen, Abdoul Kader Bougouma, opened Burkina Faso's first electric-vehicle company, Itaoua. It designs and assembles vehicles using Chinese parts, making it the country's first car manufacturer of its kind. The company has stated that it designs cars with the Burkinabé landscape and climate in mind. Bougouma expressed that he was inspired to move back to Burkina Faso to start this company because of the political and economic transformation occurring under Ibrahim Traoré's presidency (@capitaineib226 on X). Since ousting a Western-aligned leader in a people-backed coup d'état, the new government has emphasised building sovereignty and economic self-determination.

Continued…….. Until now, the country has depended almost exclusively on imported vehicles, most of which are used and not well-suited for the often rugged and unpaved interior roads. By establishing a company that assembles vehicles locally, Bougouma aims to reduce the country's dependency on imports and foster national pride.
The launch of Itaoua comes as Burkina Faso restructures its relationship with Western neo-colonial powers and looks inward for growth. Traoré, who came to power in 2022, has consistently emphasised the need for greater local production, often in state-owned factories, refineries and plants.
India-based Mordor Intelligence estimates electric-vehicle sales in Africa will jump to $28.3 billion, a more than 10 per cent spike from 2025.
While Itaoua is private, it aligns with the state's objective of developing local transportation infrastructure. Burkina Faso, along with Mali and Niger, have discussed building a tri-state transportation infrastructure, including a railway system.
Burkina Faso has also launched the state-owned Faso Mêbo programme, which trains and hires young people in road construction, infrastructure development, and city beautification. It also trains youths in defence, civic duties and patriotism.

US President Donald Trump's recent decision to allow South Africa’s white settlers to re-settle in the US as 'refugees' has drawn ridicule from many quarters, including US-based Nigerian comedian Godfrey C Danchimah Jr (@comediangodfrey on IG), who is outraged at white settlers claiming African identity.
The comedian said the settlers are hypocritical for claiming victimhood as descendants of European colonialists, who exploited the continent, imposed apartheid in South Africa, and created the all-white town, Orania. Any claim of ‘reverse r*cism’ is unfounded as r*cism uses the falsehood of European racial superiority to oppress Africans through laws. Further, a South African court recently dismissed the claim of white g*nocide as 'not real' and 'clearly imagined.'

Continued……The exodus comes after Trump’s opposition to South Africa enacting the Land Appropriation Act in January, seeking to seize land without compensation under specific circumstances to address decades of inequity due to the legacy of apartheid laws. South Africa’s white minority still benefits from a legacy of oppressing natives, owning more than 70 per cent of the country’s private farmland despite making up only 7.3 per cent of the population.

Football-mad Britain is already angling to profit from the 2030 FIFA World Cup tournament in a deal that involves supporting Morocco's occupation of Western Sahara.
The North African nation will co-host football's largest spectacle alongside Portugal and Spain. Highlighting the intersection of imperialism and capitalism, London has ditched its decades of neutrality over the Western Sahara dispute to secure British involvement in major infrastructure projects for the 2030 World Cup.
During a visit to Rabat on 1 June 2025, Foreign Secretary David Lammy boasted that deals with Morocco will enable "British businesses to score big on football's biggest stage," with opportunities in sectors like health, water, and port infrastructure, plus an estimated £33 billion in public procurement opportunities over the next three years.
London, for its part, officially recognises Morocco's autonomy proposal as the "most credible, viable and pragmatic basis for a lasting resolution of the dispute."

Continued……. Morocco has controlled much of Western Sahara since Spain withdrew from the territory in 1975, while the Polisario Front, representing the Sahrawi people's self-determination struggle, seeks complete independence. The UN has a peacekeeping mission in the region and has long called for a referendum on self-determination, which has never taken place due to Morocco's opposition.
Western Sahara is a full member state of the African Union, having joined the continental body on 22 February 1982 as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). Many countries and organisations recognise the Sahrawi people's right to their own state, including the United Nations General Assembly, which annually adopts a resolution affirming their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
However Morocco, backed by imperial powers, claims the territory as its own. Algeria, which supports SADR's independence, has slammed the UK's move, stating that Rabat's autonomy plan is "empty of content and incapable of contributing to a serious and credible settlement of the conflict."

STARLINK: WHY ELON MUSK IS BEEFING WITH SOUTH AFRICA
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has repeatedly peddled disinformation about South Africa's alleged anti-white discrimination and the unfounded claim of a 'white g*nocide,' influencing US President Donald Trump's decision to cut aid to South Africa and re-settling the African country's white settlers in the US.
To make sense of the vitriol, South African comedian Trevor Noah (@Trevornoah on X) argued in this clip from his podcast that one should follow the money.
Musk's satellite internet company, Starlink, has faced challenges in South Africa due to the country's Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) policy, which requires that historically marginalised groups hold at least 30 per cent of a company's shares in certain sectors as part of efforts to provide redress to the lingering effects of apartheid-era social and economic exclusion.

Continued……. More than 30 years after apartheid's end, white people make up only 7.3 per cent of the population but own 72 per cent of private farmland in what the World Bank has called the most unequal country. The apartheid regime systematically excluded the Black majority in South Africa from national development through initiatives like land dispossession and job reservations that locked Black people into cheap labour.
Do you agree with Noah's take on why Musk carries a vendetta against South Africa?

Guinea-Bissau’s freedom fighter and revolutionary leader, Carmen Maria de Araújo Pereira, died almost a decade ago on 4 June 2016.
Born in 1936, Pereira joined the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC) in 1962 after meeting Amílcar Cabral (1924-73), the party's co-founder. However, she became curious after discovering her husband had hidden his membership from her by holding meetings only after ensuring she had left the house. From then onwards, this tireless warrior would take on the dual struggle of demanding women’s equality and decolonisation.
