Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah (@SWAPOPRESIDENT on X) has criticised Israel's unprovoked attacks on Iran. 

In a statement that her office (@NamPresidency on X) released on 16 June, Nandi-Ndaitwah stated that the attacks are not only a glaring violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, but are ‘a breach of international law, including the Charter of the United Nations (UN). Specifically, Article 2(4) of the charter [which] clearly prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.’

The Namibian president also appealed to the United Nations and the international community to intervene, as failure to do so could lead to an escalation with dire consequences for the entire world.

On 13 June, Tel Aviv launched an illegal and unprovoked attack on Iran, striking multiple targets, including residential buildings in several provinces.

Continued…….. Anadolu Agency reports indicate that as of 19 June, the Israeli attacks had killed 639 civilians.

Historically, Namibia has never bowed to imperial power. This is the same state that resisted apartheid South Africa’s illegal occupation, stands in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle, and carries the memory of the German g*nocide against the Herero and Nama.

JEREMY CORBYN: THE COLONIAL MENTALITY NEVER LEFT

In this clip, former UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has condemned what he calls the ‘colonial mentality’ in British foreign policy. While his claim that colonialism’s logic determines how these powerful states interact with the Global South isn’t new, it’s worth raising amidst Western powers trying to maintain their grip on parts of Africa and the rest of the Global South.

Corbyn's stance aligns with demands by activists and scholars, such as historian Hakim Adi, who has long advocated for the UK to decolonise its history curriculum to expose the empire’s violence and exploitation. Indian novelist and activist Arundhati Roy has argued colonialism morphs and maintains cultural hegemony (control over our minds) using the latest technology.

This is, sadly, a farewell to you, our loyal followers and supporters. Under relentless attack, we’ve made the painful decision to shut down African Stream—a platform that many of you’ve come to trust and love. This decision was not made lightly.

The smear by then–US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 13, 2024, labelling African Stream “Kremlin propagandists”—triggered a wave of censorship. Within days, YouTube, Meta, Google, and TikTok removed our accounts, and we were demonetised on X. These actions shattered our ability to survive financially. Personal accounts were restricted. What followed was a daily uphill battle. Now, we’re left with only one path: closure.

We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your comments, your messages, your shares—you made us stronger, sharper, and more determined.

Continued……. We are deeply proud of the work we’ve done since 2022: bringing attention to the most underreported and misrepresented continent. The imperalists want to perpetuate the dominant narrative that Africa is underdeveloped due to corruption and the mismanagement of resources. They want to remove colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism from the picture. We refused to play by those rules. For that, we paid the price. But it’s a price we would pay again and again.

Refusing to play by their rules led to NBC saying we spread ‘disinformation’ without providing a single example of what ‘disinformation’ we shared. Voice of America condemned us for reporting a fact: since the George W. Bush administration, every US president has authorised drone strikes on Somalia. As we responded to every smear piece, we just grew bigger and stronger until, finally, those in positions of power realised the smears weren’t working, and the rest is history.

We will cease posting as of July 1, 2025, except for a few remaining documentaries from Liberia and Mali.

CAIRO'S DOUBLE-DEALING OVER GAZA

On the one hand, Egypt, like other countries in the region, has condemned Israel’s ongoing onslaught on Gaza, with Cairo declaring its intention on 12 May to join South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Beyond the veneer of support for Palestine, Egypt’s actions tell a different story.

Pro-Palestine protesters have faced a crackdown in the North African country. Egyptian authorities recently blocked a humanitarian convoy of about 10,000 from attempting to break the siege on Gaza under the guise of national security concerns. Haaretz reports that the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights estimates Egypt has detained more than 180 citizens for Gaza-related activism.
On top of that, Gazans seeking refuge in Egypt are reportedly being charged at least $5,000 to cross the border.

It is not the first time that Egypt’s words and deeds do not align.
