Australia’s Aborigines have suffered oppression that’s similar to the kind that was visited on Africans during colonialism’s height.
Since the establishment of the European settler colony of Australia on 29th April, 1770, there have been over 400 recorded instances of massacres of Aboriginal peoples and over 26 documented mass poisonings.
From the 19th century to the 1970s, Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their families and placed in abusive institutions that stripped them of their culture and human dignity.
On 14th October, 2023 Australia held a historic referendum concerning Aboriginal peoples known as ‘the Voice.’ This would have led to the creation of a special leadership structure to represent the interests of Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders within the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth. Aboriginal peoples organised and campaigned tirelessly in support of this referendum.
However, Australians voted ‘no.’

EGYPTIANS DONATE BLOOD FOR GAZA VICTIMS
The state of Egypt launched a blood donation campaign on 12 October to support Palestinians that have been wounded in the conflict that broke out on 7 October in the Gaza Strip between Palestinian resistance group Hamas and the Zionist state of Israel. The campaign was launched under the slogan, 'A drop of blood equals a life.' According to local media, the campaign is part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi government's initiative to support neighbouring Palestine amid the armed conflict with Israel. Egypt has historically supported Palestine, including going to war thrice with Israel. However, with the 1980 normalisation of relations between Egypt and Israel, many have questioned the Arab state's solidarity with Palestine. As of press time, about 2,750 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis had been reported dead since the conflict began.

EUROPE LECTURES AFRICA ON HUMAN RIGHTS?
Former African Union ambassador Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao recently called out European hypocrisy in preaching human rights to Africans after having committed heinous crimes against Africans. One of the greatest crimes committed by colonialists is in the Congo, where it is estimated up to 10 million Congolese were massacred by King Leopold II of Belgium. Britain and Germany also are guilty of imperial violence, with just a few examples being the genocide of Mau Mau freedom fighters in Kenya (1952-60) and colonial policies that caused the Maji Maji uprising and subsequent famine in Tanzania (1905-07).

PANDOR’S SHOCK AT ISRAEL’S AU INCLUSION
For almost two decades after the disbandment and replacement of the Organization of African Unity by the African Union, Israel's attempts to join the continental body proved futile.
But in 2021, the chairman of the African Union Moussa Faki Mahamat unilaterally announced that the AU had granted observer status to Israel - despite several countries (Algeria, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa) opposing its accreditation.
Watch South Africa's Foreign Minister - speaking at the ongoing 3rd International Dilemmas of Humanity Conference in Johannesburg - relate the tense moment when she learnt of the plan to include Israel into the AU.

GHANA-US SAHEL PLAN?
This is a cringeworthy exchange.
It's Ghana’s president calling on the US to help address the threat of “Russian mercenaries” in West Africa.
Nana Akufo-Addo made the plea to Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a visit to Washington last December. And accuses Burkina Faso of employing private military firm Wagner.
But does Ghana’s Oxford-educated leader seriously think it's the region’s biggest danger?
Firstly, Ibrahim Traore’s administration denies the allegations.
Secondly, Burkina and neighbours Mali and Niger are battling a far greater security problem- an armed insurgency fuelled by the NATO-led bombing of Libya in 2011.
Thirdly, Western (mainly French) troops have failed miserably at tackling this threat - with 40 per cent of Burkina now controlled by terrorists.

Fourthly, if Akufo-Addo doesn't want these nations looking elsewhere for security partnerships, shouldn’t he have sent his men to help their brothers?
And lastly, does he not know who overthrew Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah?
We seem to remember overwhelming evidence points to American involvement.
Ok, it was a long time ago, but forgive us for feeling Ghana’s inviting the fox into the chicken coop.

BLM: BLACKS MUST SUPPORT PALESTINE
Black Lives Matter has long stood with the Palestinian cause. And it continues to do so in the face of the Israel-Hamas war.
In this clip, BLM founder Patrisse Cullors explains why Blacks should support their struggle. She was speaking in 2015 after returning from a trip to Palestine where she witnessed the daily oppression its people. Their plight, she says, has clear parallels with apartheid South Africa.
Cullors resigned from BLM after six years in charge following criticism over her lavish lifestyle. But even if you feel she left under a cloud, it's worth listening to what she says in this interview.

The UN Security Council has rejected Russian calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Gabon and Mozambique were among five countries that voted in favour of the Moscow-drafted resolution. Ghana was one of six nations that abstained.
However, the proposal needed a minimum of nine votes for approval.
And with the US, UK, France and Japan voting against, there wasn’t enough support among the council's 15 member states.
So why did it fail with nearly four thousand people killed so far in the Israel-Gaza war?
After the vote, US envoy Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the resolution hadn't condemned the Palestinian militant group.
Russia’s ambassador claimed the council was once again ‘hostage to the selfish interests of the Western bloc of countries.’

'HAMAS SUPPORTERS': BBC APOLOGISES
BBC News came under fire and apologised on 10 October on live television after the British news outlet published a misleading report on air, claiming that people who took part in demonstrations in the United Kingdom supporting Palestine were backing Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
But the truth is this is a common trick played by not only the mainstream media but also Western politicians and commentators: anyone who supports the Palestinian liberation struggle for freedom and justice somehow supports Hamas. It's a tactic to delegitimise the Palestinian solidarity movement with worldwide support.

AFRICA MARCHES FOR PALESTINE
Amid growing international calls for a just and permanent solution to the Palestine-Israeli conflict, millions across the world have marched in solidarity with Palestine. We take a look at what that has looked like across African cities.
For a continent that has endured centuries of slavery, colonisation and neocolonisation, it is obvious why many feel deeply about Palestine. From its creation in 1948 by Britain, Israel has subjected Palestinians to unspeakable horrors. From land dispossession, rationing of essentials like water, surveillance, imprisonment of children, destruction of crops and apartheid, the Zionist state has had free reign to abuse Palestinians with the complicity and enablement of the West.

WHEN FAKE HISTORY WAS USED TO CONTROL SLAVES
It is often said that fake news is a new phenomenon as a result of social media. This, however, is not exactly true. For centuries, the ruling classes have been manipulating information or history to consolidate their control of other classes. In this video, late historian and attorney Edward Robinson explains how a German historian helped slave owners in the United States erase slaves' ancestral links to the Songhai empire, as they feared slaves would rebel once they learned of their royal status.

A Zambian proverb says, 'The pain of a wound is best understood by those who have had it before.' This could be why the people of South Africa have been among the most vocal supporters of the Palestinian people's fight against Israel's occupation and brutality. South Africans understand the pain of living under a brutal apartheid regime that has no qualms about killing thousands of civilians to sustain itself. The people of South Africa also understand the pain of being criminalized for resisting oppression, when the so-called 'free world' sides with their oppressor. They remember too well when Western states, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, labelled their most formidable liberation movement, the African National Congress and its leaders, communist terrorists. They recall how their oppressors were cast as victims facing an onslaught by 'murderous savages,' who allegedly wanted to push all white South Africans into the sea.

Continued….When they hear Israel being hailed as the 'most stable democracy in the Middle East,' they are reminded of how Western leaders hailed apartheid South Africa as the 'last bastion of freedom and the last bulwark against communism in Africa.' All this was being said as the apartheid regime was murdering school children in African townships nationwide. That is why supporting the Palestinian people's struggle against a brutal occupation comes naturally to most South Africans. They do not need anyone to lecture them on what oppression is. Indeed, they lived it for centuries.

ETHIOPIAN JEWS STERILISED IN ISRAEL
Aside from Palestinians, Ethiopian Jews have faced their own form of ethnic cleansing in the Zionist state. For decades, Israel hustled to bring Ethiopian Jews to Israel. However, since they arrived in the country, they have suffered rampant racism and have frequently complained of being treated like second-class citizens. Then, from 2003 to 2013, the community experienced a 50 per cent decline in its birthrate. Israel admitted in 2013 that it had been injecting Ethiopian Jewish women—without their knowledge—with the contraceptive drug Depo-Provera, which can prevent pregnancy for months at a time.
