RAPAPORT’S RACIST RANT DESTROYED!

Racists often think they’re being smart when they’re blurting out their hate. The latest example is American actor Michael Rapaport’s rant about Israeli hostages. During a self-filmed tirade, he claims that if ten African-Americans had been murdered and another ten taken hostage, there’d be no calls for a ceasefire in America - and nobody would dare tear down their posters. Here, African Stream’s Ahmed Ghoneim rips that argument to shreds and exposes it for the racist drivel it really is. Tell us who’s right in the comments.

MALEMA: SPRINGBOK SYMBOLISE APARTHEID

South Africa’s national rugby side may be a source of great pride for the nation following their record fourth World Cup noscript. But for some, the famous gold and green jersey and springbok emblem are anything but.

Opposition leader Julius Malema wants the colours and famous leaping antelope badge changed because of their links with the apartheid era.

They’ve been worn by the side since first appearing during a tour of Britain back in 1906. And remained during the height of apartheid when the Blacks were banned from playing the sport alongside Whites in South Africa.

Continued….The ANC had called for the kit to be scrapped after coming to power almost 30 years ago. However, Nelson Mandela intervened and allowed the national team to use the traditional strip at the 1995 World Cup, believing it could be a unifying step. But even today, despite making up less than 10 percent of the population, White players still form more than half of the country's rugby team.

Do you agree with Malema it’s time for a change? If so, what colours and emblem would you choose?

RAMAPHOSA: ISRAEL'S ACTIONS 'TANTAMOUNT TO GENOCIDE'

The alliance of global South states known as 'BRICS' on 21 November held a virtual summit on the Gaza conflict. In addition to the five original members—Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa—six new members attended: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa issued a stern condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza, saying it was 'tantamount to genocide.' Already, more than 14,500 Palestinians—including about 6,000 children—have been killed since the 7 October escalation. Ramaphosa called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, plus the opening of humanitarian corridors to transport aid to civilians in the enclave.

Continued….On the same day, South Africa's parliament passed a motion to close the Israeli embassy in Pretoria and suspend diplomatic ties. It is now on Ramaphosa's government to implement the decision. South Africa had already withdrawn its diplomatic staff from Tel Aviv in early November in condemnation of the Israeli slaughter of Palestinians.

Bombardment of schools, hospitals, refugee camps and residential buildings has characterised Israel's military attack. Gaza is in a dire humanitarian crisis, with water, food, and energy shortages as a result of an Israeli blockade that began in 2007 and has been severely exacerbated since October 7.

Let us know what you think of Ramaphosa's remarks.

ISRAEL-GAZA HOSTAGE DEAL FACES DELAYS

A temporary ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the U.S to facilitate the release of hostages and delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza has yet to take effect. The expected four-day pause in fighting will see 50 hostages in Gaza exchanged for 150 Palestinians held in Israeli jails. The deal will also allow trucks carrying food, fuel and gas to enter Gaza via Egypt's Rafah crossing.

However, Israel’s National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi announced on Wednesday that no captives will be released until Friday.

In the meantime, Israeli forces have stepped up attacks ahead of the truce, with casualties reported in several places in Gaza. Israeli attacks have killed 14,500 Palestinians so far, 5,600 of them children - equating to one child killed every ten minutes since October 7th. Another 1,800 children are missing under the rubble, and 9,000 have been wounded - many with life-changing injuries.

HAITIANS SUE INDIANA FOR LICENCE DISCRIMINATION

Five Haitians immigrants are suing the US state of Indiana - for discrimination. A new law there (H.E.A. 1050) allows people who were admitted into the country temporarily on humanitarian grounds to obtain a driver’s licence, but only if they are from Ukraine. The Haitians are questioning the law’s fairness and implications. Their request is that the law be amended to exclude national origin from consideration.

Since 2022, Haitians have been among the top-three nationalities crossing the dangerous jungle of the Darien Gap, headed for the US. Upon arrival, they face long-term stays in poorly constructed detention camps. There is often very little structural support made available in their quest towards US citizenship.

Continued….The crises which make migration from Haiti desirable for many are also largely creations of US occupation and meddling in Haitian political affairs. Some may argue that the least the US can offer them upon arrival is a driver’s licence. This would offer them greater opportunities in terms of employment and the like.

Why do you think Haitians are excluded?

RACIST MAGA FAN ‘WARNS’ OF AFRICANS COMING TO U.S.

A pro-Trump-cap sporting racist has filmed himself wandering through Phoenix airport, pointing out all the supposed Africans “coming to your community.” It’s a clear example of the prevalent anti-immigrant attitudes in the US, where many are warning of a ‘border invasion’ along the south. It’s ironic that a country built on immigration is turning its back on newcomers and fostering so much hate towards them. It’s set to be a key battleground during the 2024 election. Have a watch at this right-wing vlogger’s airport rant and let us know in the comments how you think his hate is best countered.

BOSS CALLS COPS ON BLACK EMPLOYEE FOR BEING EARLY

Most bosses would be pleased if their employees pitch up early for work. But not if you’re Henry White’s boss. Watch him relate how she called the cops on him when he arrived an hour before his shift. He claims other employees who aren’t Black and also arrived early were allowed into the restaurant without hassle. That smacks of racism.

The incident happened in Mississippi - one of the US states most resistant to social change after slavery.

Racial injustices towards Africans in America have plagued the state for many decades. We remember the case of Emmet Till in 1955 or Medgar Evers, a Black civil-rights leader assassinated in his home during the struggle for racial equality in 1963. Mississippi has the largest percentage of Blacks among US states and yet still faces the same old racial struggles.

Have a watch and let us know your reaction.

HAITIAN SISTER STANDS UP TO ZIONISTS

Zionists excel at playing the victim card, but they do not hesitate to attack people they regard as lesser beings. Theresa Alphonse, a public health practitioner with roots in Haiti, posted these clips of herself standing up to a group of pro-Israel supporters in Miami, USA. They can be heard hurling profanities at her, telling her she's 'not welcome' in the neighbourhood and questioning how she managed to obtain a university education. We applaud this sister for serving up her lone pro-Palestine solidarity to the aggressors.

MAGUIRE TO GHANA MP: APOLOGY ACCEPTED

Manchester United star Harry Maguire has accepted an apology from a Ghanaian politician who mocked him in parliament and told the MP: ‘See you at Old Trafford soon’.

Last year Isaac Adongo compared the clanger-prone defender to Ghana Vice-President Mahamadu Bawumia. And said his handling of the economy was similar to the own goals being knocked in by Maguire for United.

That outburst went viral but following an upturn in the player’s form, Adongo’s now calling the England star ‘transformed’, although he says the same can’t be said of Bawumia who’s ‘roaming’ around the International Monetary Fund (IMF) ‘with a cup in hand.’

Adongo’s latest parliamentary rant again got belly laughs and is doing the rounds on social media.
Gotta hand it to him; he certainly knows how to kick a political football! Here's the politician in action.

SOUTH AFRICA TAKES ISRAEL TO THE HAGUE!

The International Criminal Court has, till now, mainly been an instrument used to target Africans. But South Africa, and others, are now putting it to the test.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says they’ve referred Israel to The Hague - arguing that Tel Aviv is guilty of war crimes in Gaza, which he describes as a ‘concentration camp’ where women and children are ‘dying like flies.’ He has accused Israel of committing genocide.

Israel (like the US) is not signed up to the ICC, but the Palestinian authorities joined in 2015. The court has asserted that its mandate applies to the current war in Gaza.

Do you think Israel will ever be held to account at The Hague?

Is Israel trying to buy Black U.S Politicians?

Hill Harper, an African in America Democratic Candidate for the U.S. Senate from Michigan, reveals that he received a pledge of $20 million offer from a top donor in the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in exchange for abandoning his Senate race in favour of running a primary battle against Representative Rashida Tlaib. Rashida is the only Palestinian in the American Congress.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the actor-turned-politician revealed that “I didn’t intend for a private phone call to turn public. But now that it has, here’s the truth: one of AIPAC’s biggest donors offered $20m if I dropped out of the U.S. Senate race to run against Rashida Tlaib. I said no. I won’t be bossed, bullied, or bought.”

Continued…..Harper’s campaign spokesman, Karthik Ganapathy, identified Michigan businessman Linden Nelson as the person who offered the financial support. The spokesman also divulged on the 16th October call Harper received from Nelson, which included an offer to bundle $10 million in contributions and provide another $10 million through independent expenditures on his behalf.

CORNEL WEST: PALESTINE SUPPORT NOT ANTI-SEMITIC

Independent presidential candidate Dr Cornel West recently spoke at a pro-Palestine rally in Los Angeles. Drawing on a history of revolutionary solidarity in the African community, West condemned Israel’s genocide in Gaza and called for a ceasefire. He also criticised mainstream media’s characterisation of pro-Palestine solidarity as being driven by hatred of Jews. The real enemy, he said, is the colonial occupation of Palestine.

West has been among the few progressive voices in the morally bankrupt US political system. He recently called out US Senator Bernie Sanders for not backing a ceasefire. Sanders called for a ‘pause’ instead.

Continued…..The United States is widely regarded as key to the ongoing genocide in Palestine because of the $3.8 billion in annual military aid it provides Israel, in addition to vetoes on the United Nations Security Council. In more than a month, Israel has bombed the densely populated city of Gaza, targeting homes, hospitals, schools and refugee camps, killing more than 14,500 civilians, of which about 6,000 are children. The US response has included President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel and the deployment of a group of aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean Sea, while US lawmakers mull a $14 billion military aid package to Israel.

Let us know what you think of West's remarks.

Trying to prop up a narrative that dehumanises a group of people takes a lot of work. But Britain’s Guardian newspaper did its best when reporting on the potential Israeli-Palestinian prisoner swap.

While Israelis were called ‘hostages’ Palestinians were termed ‘prisoners’. Even worse, Israeli youngsters were called ‘children’ while fellow Palestinians were simply ‘people aged 18 and younger.’

Terminology plays a big part in framing people’s perceptions. And you may understand the motive when you consider more than 200 children as young as 12 are held in Israeli detention facilities. Twenty-six are there under so-called administrative detention, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society. That’s incarceration without charge or trial. Maybe it sounds more ‘palatable’ if we call them ‘people aged under 18’ rather than children?

Anyway, as always, we’re happy to help and have re-written the Guardian headline for them.

POLITICIANS ARE LIKE BAD SCIENTISTS

We’ve all seen it. Politicians make a slew of pre-election promises, get elected to deliver on their vows, but leave office, washing their hands of their responsibility to constituents. Vusi Thembekwayo, a public speaker, author and businessman, attempts to explain this phenomenon in a podcast interview hosted on @cliffcentralcom.

He likens politicians to scientists who run experiments in their labs, then walk out before the results are ready. According to Vusi, as their time in office concludes, it’s as if politicians have orchestrated a captivating performance, only to fade away before the repercussions of their choices fully unfold.

Continued…..Take Kenya or Zambia as examples. Their respective former presidents, Uhuru Kenyatta and Edgar Lungu, promised grand transformations of their countries. They both had insatiable appetites for international loans to finance construction projects. But, as the curtains closed on their respective tenures, citizens and successors were left to deal with a host of challenges: Depleted government coffers, skyrocketing inflation and plunging currencies that sent debt repayment costs soaring.

As former US operative John Perkins describes in his book, “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man,” the United States controls many leaders, by first convincing them to take out unpayable loans for projects that don’t benefit the masses.

Why do you think might this be happening? Let us know your thoughts.
