NBC SMEAR CAMPAIGN COINTELPRO 2.0?

Here’s another segment from Rizza Islam, discussing the NBC smear piece on Black-centred media organisations. He, along with African Stream, was accused of spreading ‘disinformation targeted at Black voters.’

It was based on a report by non-profit Onyx Impact which was founded by former BlackRock portfolio manager Esosa Osa. Its stated goal was to ‘expose and discredit key bad actors.’

As Rizza points out, that’s reminiscent of a tactic famously used during COINTELPRO in the 20th century. COINTELPRO stood for Counter Intelligence Program and was a series of covert projects conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic political organisations. Sound familiar? Its most famous victim was the Black Panther Party, with the assassination of 21-year-old Fred Hampton being a key moment. Also targeted were Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

BRITAIN NEEDS MIGRANTS

The far right has reared its ugly head in the UK, rampaging through towns, attacking migrant hotels, mosques and Black and Asian people, as well as vandalising businesses and looting. One of the rally cries of their media backers is that they have “legitimate concerns” about immigration. Well, as we discuss in this excerpt from our longer reaction video on YouTube, that’s true: but not for the ‘concerns’ they think. The fact is that, without migration, the UK can’t function. With its aging population, British society depends on doctors, nurses and carers coming from abroad and doing the jobs Brits won’t or can’t. Another example is slaughterhouses - where a failure to fill vacancies could reportedly lead to a food-security crisis. So to all the UK racists: yes, you do have some “legitimate concerns” - like how to attract more migrants to the country before it falls in on itself!

MPOX OUTBREAK A GLOBAL EMERGENCY

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the ongoing Mpox outbreak in Africa a global public health emergency.

A more contagious and deadly strain of the virus, called clade 1b was found in Kamituga, a small mining town in the DRC, in April. It’s now spread to 12 other African countries, including four of DRC’s neighbours that had not reported it before: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has declared a public health emergency. It reports 17,000 Mpox cases and 517 deaths across the continent, with over 90 per cent of them in DRC.

A previous Mpox public health emergency, declared in 2022, was caused by the relatively mild clade 2 variant, which reached over 100 countries worldwide.

Continued.......That was dealt with by giving vaccines to vulnerable groups. However, this latest mutation is considered more deadly and contagious. It's reported its fatality rate is around 10 per cent in children and five per cent in adults, compared to three per cent for its predecessor.

Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, spreads from physical contact with infected persons or through animals when hunting, skinning, or cooking them. It can also be passed on through materials, such as contaminated sheets, clothes or needles. It causes flu-like symptoms and pus-filled lesions on the body.

At a press conference, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned a co-ordinated international response was needed to tackle the outbreak and save lives.

MAN ATTACKS PALESTINE SUPPORTERS IN OSLO

An alleged bank employee is seen in this recent video attacking a group of pro-Palestine protesters gathered in Oslo to demand Norway's central bank divest from companies tied to Israel. His aggressiveness is reminiscent of the violence occurring globally against pro-Palestinian protesters.

The Norges Bank manages Norwegian pensions. It is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund. News reports say the bank had investments worth 15 billion crowns ($1.36 billion) across 76 companies in Israel by the end of 2023.

DANCEHALL LEGEND BUJU BANTON ON HAITI

We stand with Haiti - and so does dancehall and reggae legend Buju Banton (@bujubanton). In this clip, he explains why the island nation is suffering so much. Haiti, remember, was the first free Black republic after a successful slave rebellion against the French. Ever since, the enslaving nations have wanted to make an example out of her - to deter any other would-be rebellions against western imperial domination. And even though slavery is gone, neo-colonialism isn’t. So the punishment continues. Haiti was forced to pay billions of dollars to France in perverse reparations for freeing itself. The US looted the island’s gold, militarily occupied it, installed puppets and overthrew popular governments at will. Disgracefully, now even Kenya’s getting involved on behalf of the West. ‘SETTLERS WILL BE IN GAZA IN 1 YEAR’

’During a television interview far-right Zionist settlement extremist Daniella Weiss shocked many.‘In my opinion, in less than a year, there will be citizens sitting in Gaza,’ said the 78-year-old head of the radical settler organisation, Nachala, of her vision of a Gaza free of the 2 million Palestinians who have lived there for thousands of years. She claims to have a list of 500 families ready to settle in the Gaza Strip. Weiss said this as Israel has bombarded the besieged enclave since 7 October, k*lling nearly as many as 186,000, as of early July, according to the Lancet medical journal.Weiss also sparked outrage after a March 2023 interview with the BBC when she stated, ‘Gaza Arabs will not stay in the Gaza Strip.

Continued……. Who will stay? The Jews.’ She continued, ‘The world is wide. Africa is big. Canada is big. The world will absorb the people of Gaza.’In December 2023, she told a TV presenter, ‘Erase Gaza so the settlers can see the sea.’However, in the words of the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, Gaza is the ‘greatest open-air graveyard’ under Israeli occupation and siege since 2007.

FAR-RIGHT PROTESTS ARRESTS OF ISRAELI ALLEGED R*PISTS

In this video clip, a former Israeli Knesset member who has advocated replacing the Gaza Strip’s Palestinian population with Israelis to create what he calls a ‘Hebrew Gaza,’ led a protest chant to support the eight Israeli soldiers arrested in late July for allegedly gang-r*ping a Palestinian detainee at Sde Teiman detention camp in southern Israel.

Moshe Feiglin, 62, chanted ‘This is Sodom’ referring to one of two cities that the Torah and the Bible’s Old Testament say the Abrahamic God destroyed during ancient times for their moral depravity. The connection between that and the arrests is unclear.

Continued….. He once told Channel 12, a popular Israeli TV station, ‘We are not guests in our country. This is our country. All of it.’ Feiglin added, ‘As H*tler said, ‘I cannot live if one Jew is left.’ We can’t live here if one ‘Islamo-N*zi’ remains in Gaza.’

Feiglin was a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party before quitting and founding the right-wing Zehut Party.

MALEMA’S NUMBER TWO DITCHES PARTY

A surprise development in South Africa’s political opposition: Floyd Shivambu - the deputy leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) - has quit. Speaking at a media briefing that was attended by party boss Julius Malema and other senior EFF officials, Shivambu said he would not renew his party membership, which recently expired, and would consequently resign from the party and his position as a member of parliament. He revealed that he is switching to the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, which is led by former president Jacob Zuma and recently dislodged the EFF as the country’s third-largest political party.

Continued….. Malema spoke immediately after Shivambu and accepted his decision to leave the party. The move adds to Malema’s woes in the aftermath of the 29th-May elections that saw a drop in his party’s support. Other than saying he will be moving to MK, Shivambu, who co-founded the EFF with Malema in July 2013, has not given any reasons for his defection. He has been Malema’s right-hand man for nearly two decades, starting with their time in the ruling African National Congress’ powerful youth wing, where Malema served as president and Shivambu as spokesperson - before they were expelled from the organisation in 2012 and 2013, respectively. ISRAELI JAILED FOR SYMPATHY TO PALESTINIANS

Israeli history and civics teacher Meir Baruchin, 62, was held in solitary confinement for four days after he made social media posts denouncing Israel’s military onslaught in the Gaza Strip.

Police arrested him a month after the 7 October escalation in Israel’s 76-year occupation of Palestine for allegedly supporting terrorist attacks on Israelis. He also lost his teaching job in the central Israeli city of Petah Tikva, but was later reinstated.

Continued….. Baruchin uses social media to ‘humanize the Palestinians, to give them names and faces, and tell their story.’ It’s a lonely role in a society that punishes anyone for speaking against Tel Aviv’s apartheid policies toward Palestinians.

So far, Israel has k*lled nearly 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children. The Lancet medical journal estimated that the figure could be as high as 186,000 in early July. Tel Aviv’s blockade of the battered enclave, which began in 2007, has cut off food, water, electricity and medical supplies, worsening a 10-month humanitarian catastrophe.

NOTHING’S WRONG WITH AFRICA!

US economist Jeffery Sachs challenged the West to put the mirror to its face at the UN Food Systems Pre-Summit in 2021.

When the imperialist powers were not colonising Africans who had systems of governance in place, they were plundering Africa’s precious resources, assassinating political figures and, fuelling wars, stifling the continent’s ability to conduct its affairs.

Sachs said Africans continue to be exploited and denied their rights recognised under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations in 1948. He mentioned Belgium’s brutal occupation that k*lled more than 10 million Congolese and the Belgian/British/US-led assassination of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s first democratically elected leader, Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba (1925-61).

The bigger problem is not African corruption, but rather Western imperialism. Let us know your thoughts below.

ANOTHER BLACK STAR FACING ‘BLIND ACCUSATIONS’

Former University of Illinois basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr was found not guilty of r*pe and aggravated s*xual assault. He was arrested back in December 2023 over an alleged incident that happened at a bar called the Jayhawk Cafe on September 8th, 2023, after attending the Illinois versus Kansas football game in Lawrence, Kansas. Accused by an 18-year-old woman, she alleged that Shannon s*xually assaulted her shortly after they met, allegations that he denied. Before he was arrested in December, he was a rising star of the game projected to have been top-25 pick for 2024 NBA draft but due to the allegations he was suspended from the Illinois University basketball team. His attorney, Mark Sutter, while addressing the jury, called the allegations 'blind accusations'.

Continued….. Fortunately, Terrence Shannon Jr was not convicted and was able to prove his innocence in court, but for other Black defendants being exonerated comes after a much longer battle.

In 2017 a report was published in by the National Registry of Exonerations noscriptd 'Race and Wrongful Convictions in the United States.' It found that Black defendants convicted of murder, s*xual assault, and drug crimes are more likely than White defendants to later be found innocent. More than half of all wrongful convictions can be traced back to a false allegation or false testimony. And because Black people represent nearly half of all exonerations, the burden of false allegations falls disproportionately on them.
