MANOLO DE LOS SANTOS: DEFEND THE FIGHT FOR AFRICAN SOVEREIGNTY
During the historic summit noscriptd, ‘Conference in Solidarity with the Peoples of the Sahel,’ held 19-21 November in Niger’s capital of Niamey, hundreds of people gathered at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Centre to show unwavering support for the revolutionary process underway against neocolonialism in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
The conference brought together Pan-Africanist and anti-imperialist delegates representing popular movements and organisations from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
Manolo De Los Santos (@manolo_realengo on X), executive director of the New York-based movement incubator The People's Forum, stepped on stage to fire up the crowd with a powerful message: That the flame of revolution must not stop and that Africans must continue to fight for dignity and sovereignty from imperialism.

Continued….Between 2021 and 2023, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger—with the support of their populations—expelled Western-aligned governments through coups d’état and demanded the withdrawal of French troops from their territories. Since then, the three states have established the Alliance of Sahel States confederation, an anti-imperialist bloc that shares defence, economic and foreign policies, with an eye on becoming a federation and eventually unifying the continent.

Pan-Africanist, philosopher, and organiser Marcus Garvey (1887-1940) powerfully and tirelessly advocated for the economic liberation of African people worldwide. His succinct words echo just as strongly now as they did then.
His teachings prompt us, as Africans, to recognise that there is still much to be done to achieve true independence. To depend on another means to relinquish control, sovereignty and ultimately the very thread of existence we hang on to, as their whims determine our state.
Needless to say, if money is the world’s language, until Africans are economically independent, we have no tongue.

As more than 1.4 million Namibians voted on 27 November in presidential and parliamentary elections, the question on many people's minds is whether the ruling party, South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), will succumb to the fate of former liberation movements and long-ruling parties in Southern Africa.
In May, South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), recorded its worst performance since coming to power in 1994, forcing it into a national unity government with right-wingers. Meanwhile, to Namibia's east, the Botswana Democratic Party, also of the independence era, was sent packing on 30 October after 58 years.
SWAPO, the only ruling party Namibians have known since attaining independence in 1990, faces what many have described as its most challenging test at the polls. A sluggish economy and 43 per cent unemployment among 15- to 34-year-olds—with 18- to 35-year-olds making up 42 per cent of the electorate—have pushed many Namibians away from the ruling party.

Continued……Young people are also unlikely to vote for SWAPO solely based on the party's liberation credentials, as has been the case with older generations. SWAPO candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has promised to create 500,000 new jobs to win them over.
What could save SWAPO from the jaws of defeat is the opposition’s fragmentation, with 14 candidates having thrown their hats in the ring, potentially splitting the opposition vote and enabling Nandi-Ndaitwah to reach the threshold of 50 per cent plus one vote. A runoff election will occur if no one reaches that threshold, which would be unprecedented for the country.
In the 2019 elections, SWAPO candidate Hage Geingob (1941-2024), who died earlier this year, amassed 56 per cent of the vote, a significant drop from the 87 per cent he won five years earlier.

The Haitian Diaspora Political Action Committee and individuals filed a class-action lawsuit on 25 November against the American Red Cross, the International Red Cross and related entities for fraudulently using donations meant for Haiti’s relief following the 2010 earthquake. The plaintiffs seek a total of $1 billion for compensation and punitive damages, as well as a full accounting of funds raised.
The American Red Cross maintains that ‘money donated for Haiti earthquake relief went into a restricted account that could only be used for programs and services for Haiti. Designated funds are never used for operational deficits or payment of debt,’ according to a statement to the Miami Herald. The group added that a detailed financial breakdown of spending is available on its website.
However, a joint 2015 National Public Radio (NPR) and ProPublica investigation reported the Red Cross had only built six permanent homes while claiming to have housed over 130,000 Haitians.

EFF WILL ARREST NETANYAHU
South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters President Julius Malema announced on 25 November that the party would follow through on the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he sets foot in South Africa.
@Julius_S_Malema (X) held South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s feet to the fire, asking him to clarify whether he would arrest the Israeli leader, given he claimed Ramaphosa was willing to do so on an ICC warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin had he visited the country for a 2023 BRICS meeting.

SUDANESE CELEBRATE RSF EXIT FROM SENNAR STATE’S KARKOJ
Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) has announced they have successfully pushed out the United Arab Emirates-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from Sinja, the capital of Sennar state, along with other towns.
Sennar is strategically located because of a highway that links the country’s southeastern states. Sinja and surrounding towns had come under RSF control in June when the paramilitary looted homes, shops and markets, causing widespread fear and instability. This led over 55,400 people to flee Sinja to seek refuge in the neighbouring Gedaref, Blue Nile, White Nile and Kassala states.
In the first clip, residents of Karkoj, a town in Sennar, celebrated the armed forces' success in forcing out the RSF who t*rrorised them.

Continued………Before the proxy war started on 15 April 2023, the Sudanese held grievances against both the armed forces and the RSF, who had together k*lled, injured and sexually abused protesters en masse, while throwing bodies in the Nile in attempts to conceal their crimes since the December 2018 revolution kicked off that ousted former President Omar Al-Bashir in April 2019.
However, army-controlled areas have represented security and stability during the proxy war. The RSF has been held responsible for the majority of atrocities, such as the recent ethnically-motivated revenge attacks in Al Jazirah state, where the RSF allegedly k*lled at least 500 people through food poisonings and shootings.
