The Haitian Diaspora Political Action Committee and individuals filed a class-action lawsuit on 25 November against the American Red Cross, the International Red Cross and related entities for fraudulently using donations meant for Haiti’s relief following the 2010 earthquake. The plaintiffs seek a total of $1 billion for compensation and punitive damages, as well as a full accounting of funds raised.

The American Red Cross maintains that ‘money donated for Haiti earthquake relief went into a restricted account that could only be used for programs and services for Haiti. Designated funds are never used for operational deficits or payment of debt,’ according to a statement to the Miami Herald. The group added that a detailed financial breakdown of spending is available on its website.

However, a joint 2015 National Public Radio (NPR) and ProPublica investigation reported the Red Cross had only built six permanent homes while claiming to have housed over 130,000 Haitians.

EFF WILL ARREST NETANYAHU

South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters President Julius Malema announced on 25 November that the party would follow through on the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he sets foot in South Africa.

@Julius_S_Malema (X) held South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s feet to the fire, asking him to clarify whether he would arrest the Israeli leader, given he claimed Ramaphosa was willing to do so on an ICC warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin had he visited the country for a 2023 BRICS meeting.

To his credit, Ramaphosa’s administration is the party responsible for kickstarting International Court of Justice (ICJ) proceedings in December 2023 against Israel for violating the UN G*nocide Convention in Gaza. Israel's military onslaught had k*lled more than 186,000 Palestinians as of early July, according to the medical journal Lancet.

SUDANESE CELEBRATE RSF EXIT FROM SENNAR STATE’S KARKOJ

Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) has announced they have successfully pushed out the United Arab Emirates-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from Sinja, the capital of Sennar state, along with other towns.

Sennar is strategically located because of a highway that links the country’s southeastern states. Sinja and surrounding towns had come under RSF control in June when the paramilitary looted homes, shops and markets, causing widespread fear and instability. This led over 55,400 people to flee Sinja to seek refuge in the neighbouring Gedaref, Blue Nile, White Nile and Kassala states.

In the first clip, residents of Karkoj, a town in Sennar, celebrated the armed forces' success in forcing out the RSF who t*rrorised them.
👍20🎉7
Continued………Before the proxy war started on 15 April 2023, the Sudanese held grievances against both the armed forces and the RSF, who had together k*lled, injured and sexually abused protesters en masse, while throwing bodies in the Nile in attempts to conceal their crimes since the December 2018 revolution kicked off that ousted former President Omar Al-Bashir in April 2019.

However, army-controlled areas have represented security and stability during the proxy war. The RSF has been held responsible for the majority of atrocities, such as the recent ethnically-motivated revenge attacks in Al Jazirah state, where the RSF allegedly k*lled at least 500 people through food poisonings and shootings.

AFRICANS IN SOLIDARITY WITH SAHEL REVOLUTIONS AT NIGER CONFERENCE, PT. 1

During 19-21 November, Pan-Africanists, anti-imperialists, and friends of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) flocked to Niamey, Niger, for the Conference in Solidarity with the Peoples of the Sahel.

The AES is a revolutionary confederation consisting of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, West African countries that have made enormous strides toward ending neo-colonialism in recent years since their people-backed military coups d’état.

The conference, organised by the West Africa Peoples Organisation, Pan-Africanism Today and Nigerien civil society organisations, marks a turning point for global solidarity with Africa's new self-determining bloc. Delegates representing political and workers’ organisations came from Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, the US, India, China and other countries.

AFRICA A LONG WAY FROM INTEGRATION

How is Africa supposed to grow and develop when it remains largely disconnected, its people alien to each other?

According to the Africa Visa Openness Index of 2024, more than half of the countries require entry visas. African countries have chosen to retain borders that colonialists imposed even though those colonialists do not let their borders affect trade and movement.

Despite the African Union adopting Agenda 2063 in 2015, an initiative to create an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa with a stronger continental identity, little has changed nine years later.

Continued……. As South African entrepreneur @VusiThembekwayo argues in this video, ‘You only lock the vault where there is money.’

However, a ray of hope exists in the Sahel, where the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) announced a shared passport for citizens of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, a significant step toward deeper regional integration. The alliance started with a mutual-defence security pact in September 2023, becoming a confederation with shared defence, economic and foreign policies on 6 July. It aims to unify Africa eventually.

U.S. TECH FIRM'S 'MODERN SLAVERY' IN KENYA

The exploitation of cheap labour is one consequence of the ongoing phenomenon of colonisation, and one US-based artificial-intelligence company, Sama, is under scrutiny for running what a civil rights activist describes as 'AI sweatshops' in Kenya.

Sama is under fire after a US television programme, '60 Minutes' (CBS News), exposed deplorable work conditions and low pay at its Kenyan operations. Workers reportedly earn $2 an hour instead of the agreed-to $12.50 per hour to weed out s*xual and violent content for hours.

The situation underscores the urgent need for ethical practices in the outsourcing industry, as weak labour laws and unions, high unemployment rates, and poorer countries’ governments bowing to multinational corporations drive the unchecked exploitation of many African youths. This raises questions about President William Ruto promoting Kenya as a top destination for global tech companies.

U.S. WARNS AGAINST NETANYAHU ICC ARREST

This viral clip shows Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham warning Washington will go after allies who comply with the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

The ICC has sought arrest warrants for the pair on 21 November for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Most European countries and human rights groups have welcomed the ICC's arrest warrants. Josep Borrel, the European Union's policy chief whose term ends in December, said on 28 November that Europe cannot ‘undermine the International Criminal Court’ as he sees the court as the only way to ‘implement accountability.’ All EU member states have signed the ICC's founding treaty, the Rome Statute.

A slew of US politicians, mainly those funded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), have issued statements condemning the ICC's decision, invoking the so-called 'Hague Invasion Act' (American Service members Protection Act of 2002) that authorises the use of military force to liberate any US citizen or a citizen of a US-allied country that the ICC detains.

NIGERIANS 'RELUCTANT' TO CLAIM KEMI BADENOCH

In an exclusive interview with the UK’s Daily Mail published 22 October 2024, newly-elected Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch said her experiences in Nigeria, where she ‘didn’t feel safe,’ have informed her political views and that she does not ‘want [the UK] to become like the place [she] ran away from.’

The Nigerian experiences that the 44-year-old has recounted have led some to question if she is trying to deploy negative stereotypes about Africans to pander to the far right.

Perhaps that’s why, in this clip, Nigeria’s Arise News co-host Steve Ayorinde (@stevoree on X) said he is ‘reluctant’ to claim Badenoch for her criticisms of his home country.
🤡17👍1🤮1
Continued……Like Nigeria, the UK has its challenges with systemic issues, such as racist policies that make Black people and others feel unsafe, as well as economic mismanagement. Its leaders accuse others of corruption, yet the difference between the UK and the Global South, is that its corruption—and that of its Western allies—is tactfully concealed in veneers of civility.

Further, while Badenoch benefits from UK citizenship, she promotes policies that deny that opportunity to Black and Brown immigrants while welcoming Ukrainian immigrants. She has argued that all cultures are not equal and that ‘British values’ must be protected from anti-Israel immigrants.

‘I would go to war for this country,’ Badenoch has said. ‘I would fight for this country. I would die for this country.’

OMALI YESHITELA: AFRICAN UNION WAS FORMED TO DIVIDE, NOT UNIFY

In 2019, at Oxford Union’s debate society, African People’s Socialist Party (@APSPusa on X) founder and Chairman Omali Yeshitela provided an insightful breakdown of why the African Union—originally the Organisation of African Unity (OAU)—was not formed to unite Africa, but to keep the continent divided.

@OmaliYeshitela (X) asserts Kwame Nkrumah (1909-72), Ghana’s first president and founding father of the OAU, held a vision of a United States of Africa that would be fully integrated—politically, socially and economically. Instead, the OAU formed as a compromise due to the ideological differences between the Casablanca and Monrovia groups. The former sought to dismantle colonial borders, while the latter sought to operate within them.

WEST RESPONDS TO ICC ARREST WARRANTS FOR NETANYAHU

The International Criminal Court (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber I on 21 November unanimously decided to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister, Yoav Gallant.

Unlike 124 other countries, Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute. Thus, Netanyahu said the decision has no bearing on them, adding that the ICC is ‘biased,' and he described the charges as 'anti-Semitic.’

Israel's military onslaught in Gaza had k*lled as many as 186,000 Palestinians between 8 October 2023 and early July, per the Lancet medical journal.

Some Western leaders have aided Israel with funding, arms and UN Security Council vetoes. Here are just a few of their public statements on the warrants.
