🗣 Ilya Sutskever on Comparing AI Systems to Biological & Human Intelligence.
He explains the brain’s adaptability, where children with half their brain removed still function well. And another experiment shows sensory inputs can remap to different brain regions.
i.e. that cortical structures are highly uniform, reused across functions, similar to DNA and protein encoding.
This suggests that intelligence relies on a general, repeatable architecture, and the idea that AI can mirror biological systems.

🔔 Accenture cuts 11,000 jobs as AI takes over consulting
Accenture says it can’t retrain everyone fast enough for the new AI-driven skills consulting now demands.
CEO Julie Sweet said employees whose jobs can’t be matched with new AI skills will be let go quickly.
"This change is so big, this is reversing five decades of how we're working."
The cuts are part of an $865 million restructuring program, expected to generate $1 billion in savings—money that will be reinvested in AI and workforce development.
Accenture’s stock fell 2.7% on the layoff news, then rebounded 2.8% the next day—now nearly back to pre-announcement.

Sam Altman says technology is outpacing our wisdom, which leaves society unbalanced
"This was the year AI got smarter than us". Life goes on, but something fundamental has changed
The future is wide open: digital immortality, disease cures, no one knows how far it goes

Googles new 27B-model predicted a new potential cancer therapy for the first time: it discovered that the drug silmitasertib (CX-4945) only enhances antigen presentation under certain immune conditions, in other words, it can make tumors more “visible” to the immune system. This hypothesis was confirmed experimentally.
"C2S-Scale generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior and we have since confirmed its prediction with experimental validation in living cells. This result provides a blueprint for a new kind of biological discovery — predictive models of cellular behavior powerful enough to discover context-conditioned biology and generate biologically-grounded hypotheses."
It can't be much longer until every cancer will be fully treatable.

Is AI replacing US jobs?
Since June 2023, the largest increase in unemployment has occurred in occupations with the lowest exposure to AI, rising by +0.8 percentage points.
At the same time, professions with the highest exposure to automation from AI have seen an increase of +0.7 percentage points. This is followed by a +0.4 percentage point rise in fields with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lowest exposure to AI.
This indicates that while AI may be contributing to the labor market slowdown, it is not the main driver. When cracks appear in the job market, new hires are often the first to feel the pain, which is the case this time.
Labor market weakness is only partially due to AI.

Pavel Durov unveils Cocoon — a decentralized AI compute network
Cocoon is a new platform designed to handle AI computations through a distributed network of GPUs, eliminating the need for large centralized servers.
Here’s how it works:
- GPU owners connect their machines to Cocoon and contribute computing power.
- AI developers send processing tasks to the network.
- The system automatically assigns these tasks to available GPUs.
- Contributors are rewarded in TON for every completed job.
The standout feature of Cocoon is data privacy, all information is encrypted, ensuring no participant can view the contents of a request. In essence, it’s private AI infrastructure secured by the TON blockchain. Telegram will be the first major adopter, planning to route its AI-related operations through Cocoon to promote both privacy and network adoption.
In short:
- GPU providers earn TON tokens.
- Developers gain affordable, secure compute power.
- Users benefit from fast, private AI performance.

The AI job crisis is real
The U.K. is facing a severe Gen Z job crisis: around 1.2 million graduates are competing for just 17,000 available entry-level positions, the worst ratio since the late 1990s.
AI automation and hiring freezes have wiped out many entry-level roles, while universities keep producing degrees misaligned with market needs—leaving thousands of young workers stranded between education and employment.
