“The closure of the Baltic Sea for the Russian Federation will be a declaration of war” said Latvian President Edgars Rinkevichs.
Commenting on damage to undersea cables in 2023, he said that countries in the region could close the water area to Russia, which would be tantamount to starting "a direct confrontation with Moscow".
“The North Atlantic Alliance must stop the passage of ships in the Baltic Sea if Russia's involvement in sabotaging the Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia is proven” he noted.
