December 7th, "Student Day" in Iran, has been a day of student advocacy for nearly 7 decades. It holds significance as a day of where universities take collective action for democracy and progress. Among students, during the last two decades, this day has been coined "Jonbeshe Daneshjooyi" or the "Iranian Student Movement."
This year, students are on the front lines of fighting for “Woman, Life, Freedom,” leading to an all-time high of student suppression. More than 500 student activists are detained, and many more are prohibited from continuing their education. Despite it all, students have continued their fight for democracy.

A group of students and alumni in the US, Canada, and Europe (the "Student Day" initiative group) are working to create unity, momentum, and strength within the academic community across the globe, i.e. to Echo the Voice of Iranian Students.
Our Mission:
— Provide media attention for the events that are expected on December 7th in Iran.
— Collect ideas and create a dialogue among active students around the world.
— Create campus-to-campus solidarity with students who have been protesting for 80 days.

For Dec 7th (16 Azar), Student Day in Iran, there will be a global social media campaign #StudentsForStudents. You may find all details on Alliance for Iranian Students’ page, i.e. in collaboration with Middle East Matters.
This is a media campaign, not a rally, and will remain focused on #StudentsForStudents.
This week, national strikes are announced in Iran because of this day, which include many Iranian campuses. University students have been & will remain a critical force for keeping the Woman-Life-Liberty uprisings alive. Let's:
- Echo their voices during and also after this week.
- Show solidarity with students in Iran by raising awareness about detained students and other forms of suppression.
- Cover the news about what will be happening on December 7th on university campuses (strikes, protests, etc.) in English.
